If we were just to sign De Rossi and Agger our team would become almost unbeatable. That is what you need to win trophies. RVP would be the cherry on top but even if he went to the Rags provided we have signed the others I would say it will be one hell of a ding dong battle for the prem title next year. I have to say I would not be able to call it. Signing RVP IMO would make it easier to retain.

Now here is a post, I find nothing to disagree with. At the beginning of the offseason I said City must sign a topnotch CD and CM to be set. My picks were Vertonghen/Witsel. But Agger/De Rossi would be just as good.

My hat off to the Rammy too. Aligns nicely with my train of thought.

Yep agree with rammy

But Imo we need to replace AJ with a pacy winger

Junior hoilet would have been an upgrade coz AJ has been awful, hes not a starter and not a compact sub any more either so i say we get rid.

Great post but, is there any evidence we are going for DDR?

Why will he be injured for half a season? He hasnt been injured in a few years now, and has as much chance of breaking down as Aguero or Silva next season.
Last season was the first time in his career in top flight football that RVP has played more than 30 League games.

Setting aside his injuries, I still prefer Aguero and Tevez, or Balotelli after his performance at the Euros.

So what? He's fit now - many players may or may not get injured. He's been fit basically since winter 2010 and played loads for club + country. Van Persie has been the best in England since then, as we thought he could be if he shook the injuries off.

You're happy with your options now, that's fine. He'll outscore most players, if not all, in the league again next season and life will go on.

The pacy winger doesn't need to be a world beater though as it is likely to be someone utilized as an impact sub, in which case it would fit for us to look to bring in a brit who helps keep our quota up - hence I assume our reported interest in people like Sinclair and Jarvis.

Of course, I'd be ecstatic if we spunked 25mil on someone like Pedro but if we did nothing other than sign DDR and Agger it would be a marvelous window.

Any info at your end mate?

Nah, only the tabloid crap that we all see - some saying he might do a u-turn, others saying he'll definitely leave.

Gut feeling is that there's no way we'd sell to Man United though, there'd be absolute uproar. Even though we arent competing with either Manchester club, I just cannot see Wenger sanctioning a deal to sell him to United. Easier to sell to City and play the victim card, plus movement in that direction has been common practice in recent years.

No chance of a u-turn IMO. He wants us 100% but it's all down to arsene!

Maybe so haha but there's nothing we can do with 10-12m! Champions League gives us double that, I'd say somewhere between 15-20m should do the job.

My gut feeling is he's virtually ours at around £20 million and well worth it .

We'd have to make a bid first, and that wont happen unless City sell a forward

If the season starts and he's still at Arsenal, I'm sure Wenger and RVP will cobble together some statement about RVP committing to Arsenal

As jlc says, it doesn't make any sense for Arsenal to sell unless someone offers stupid money - and if anyone was going to do that they'd have showed their hand by now.

Roberto Mancini insists “it’s pretty unlikely” Edin Dzeko will leave Manchester City, but “I don’t think” Robin Van Persie will join either.

The Eastlands manager spoke to Sky Sport Italia this afternoon and was asked about Juventus and Milan’s interest in Dzeko.

“I’m pleased, as this means we have good players, but it’s pretty unlikely he will leave,” said Mancini.

“He is right to say it’s no fun being on the bench, but when you join a big club then competition is normal.”

Manchester City are also battling against Juve and Manchester United to grab Arsenal talent Van Persie.

“Van Persie? No, I don’t think he will come here,” added Mancini.
