Robinho (Merged)

World class or not. It dosen't really matter. In January he had the chance to stake a place in the team in Semi's against the rags and couldn't be arsed.

If anyone wants to look at why we didn't beat the rags in the first leg by more than one goal, don't blame Mancini's tactics blame Robinho.

I was in the Robinho camp and more than prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt with all his problems but he blew his golden chance.

Make no mistake he's not one of us and never will be.

We're flush for cash so send him out on loan to EB Streymur (sp) next season.

Blame Robinho for us not beating United by more than one goal despite him not even playing? Makes perfect sense that one. People are entitled to their opinion on Robinho but comments like that and some of the other comments in this thread are pathetic. He's an extremely talented player who had a good first season for us but sadly this season in the few games he played after coming back from injury he didn't play aswell as he's capable of and took the easy option and went back to Brazil but the way some posters on here go on you'd think he was an average footballer who never did anything good for us when quite clearly thats not the case

I've said this for ages...

If we buy a couple of centre midfielders who help us to keep the ball and control the game, Robbie will be class for us.

For one, he wouldn't be expected to run around like a lunatic because we'd be controlling the game if we were better in the middle of the park.

I've honestly not see anybody get as much stick as Robbie. It's quite sickening.

Completely agree. The players we have in the team who are required to do the defensive work in terms of winning the ball and starting attacks in general weren't good enough away from home last season and it had a knock on effect with regards to everyone of our attacking players last season. Who l of our attacking players last season performed well consistantly away from home?

I think it's fair to say when taking everything into context Robinho had a pretty good first season last season and then this season he was out for about 10 weeks with an injury and has started only 6 leauge games yet people are quick to write him off as being not good enough when i honestly don't see that being the case. Robinho is a extremely talented player who can have a part to play for us however he made the decision to go back to Brazil rather than stay and fight for his place but hopefully he'll be back with us next season and we can give him a bit longer than 7 starts before saying he'shad a shocking season

He brings it on himself

Robbie had a pretty good first season but was abysmal this season and showed no signs of wanting to knuckle down and make thigns happen for him here, instead jetting off and shirking all responsibility and opting for the easy way out.

Hughes and Mancini are two very different types of managers (one of whom has worked with some of the worlds top players) and neither of them fancied him

Was he really absymal though? I thought out of the 7 games he started this season he played well enough in the ones against Blackburn, Wolves, Hull, Chelsea and Scunthorpe and wouldn't call his performances in any of those abysmal. He was however absymal against Spurs away and poor against Stoke at home. His sub appearance against Everton was extremely poor but his sub appearances against Wolves and Blackburn were decent enough. Overall i thought he done alright overall this season while being nowhere near as good as he can be and that of course is going to cause people questioning him but not to the extent that a fair few posters did

Either way you're right with regards to your last part of your post and it's obvious that Robinho wasn't happy enough at City hence his move to Santos

He clearly cares deeply about the national team and obviously believes a move back to Brazil will help in terms of getting some kind of form back. I would have preferred him to stay and like you say 'fight' but his chances would have been pretty limited. He would have most likely stayed had it not have been a WC year.

I wouldn't say Hughes didn't fancy him. I wouldn't say Mancini didn't either. And i definitely don't think he's done anything that warrants City fans wanting to see him have his legs snapped.

Worst Brazil team for a long time and they have no chance in the world cup.

Thats a quote that may come back and slap you in the face. Dont get me wrong there not as attacking as they once were but Dunga has sorted out the team. They could of easily scored more than the 2 goals they got. Defence is there strongest it has ever been in a long long time. Add to that unlike last night they can call on Pato , Luis Fabiano and even Ronaldinho to there squad. They have a great chance of winning the World Cup.

I thought he was quiet away to blackburn and shocking away to scunny (hence the constant 'what a waste of money chants' as he kept losing the ball and firing over) but against chelsea he was quality and was a very good outlet for us in the way he could control those long balls and then get at them.

The thing with Robbie though is that he's so weak and provides no defensive cover that he has to influence our attacking play significantly to make up for this, which he wasn't

You could argue all day about Robinho, but it's as simple as this,he's an immensely talented footballer, but you'll never get him playing at a high standard week in week out.it's players like Tevez you need if you are to become successful, not Robinho.
