I know it used to be the case, not sure if it still is, that for tax reasons it’s better and cheaper for us to agree to buy from the club rather than the player triggering his release clause. So if that’s still the case an agreement with Atletico would be preferable. Possible too it may involve a player I suppose, maybe Otamendi ?
