Roll call for 9 minute protest

I noticed you and Ducado weren't in your seats last night and nobody else was?
He said he wasn't planning to go and at the last minute (well yesterday lunchtime) I couldn't. I don't know if he put his ticket on the exchange but I deliberately didn't, as it meant there'd be an empty seat the club couldn't sell. That was my contribution to the protest.

When we tell them tickets are capped at £30 they are sometimes in a state of shock!
Although we suspected a while back that City were supplying online ticket agencies we now know they are. They are indirectly touting home and away tickets to legalised online touts. As you say are capped at £30 yet City are shamelessly selling them on to agencies to profiteer from.

A shameful and disgusting way of treating proper blues that City.

And if there are fight it explicitly o nseason tickets and prices. The only thing wrong with the protest was that it was unfocused and highlighted ten ton of issues including tourists, an argument which is creating a hierarchy of City fans some of whom are worthy, some of whom are not.
Ten ton of issues or 2 or 3? That’s right up there with I’ve told you a million times not to exaggerate

To be honest, when I saw the highlights this morning on the City website, I was embarrassed. Mny City fans missed the first goal, and just fuelled the empty seats propaganda. There are surely better ways to make the owners listen. What concerned me more were the number of empty seats at the end of the game. We need to show our support for the team.

Nobody cares about the empty seats propaganda. It’s just other fans on the wind up, and in fairness to the socials they have explained why the seats were empty early on. Most comments I’ve made have been positive towards the protest.

Embarrassed by City fans missing a goal, when you freely admit you've hardly ever been to a game at the Etihad?

I hope you see the irony.

You do wonder if the FSA might take this up legally as the club are breaking a contract with fans about the distribution of away tickets and not using the loyalty points system or transparently communicating this distribution.

I did think that and I think the FSA should. I suspect City aren't the only PL club to be supplying online agencies though. We'll have to wait and see what becomes of all this...

There’s some right cranks on this thread.

I must be a big embarrassment to you then as I have missed countless City goals over the years

I’m going a Price of Football live event at the end of the month. I’m going to ask this very question. Their ‘Secret Lawyer’ is Nick DiMarco. It would be interesting to see what he has to say on the subject.

Anyone with a brain knows why. You’re maybe a little sensitive to what other fans say down South? Just show them the comparison photo from the 10th minute, it’s not difficult, just grow a backbone.

You're right we don't care what other fans think or them taking the piss.

We take the piss of ourselves well enough with our 'empty seats at home' song which shows we haven't lost our longstanding self depreciating sarcastic sense of humour, and that's largely why I choose to be in Kippax corner. And our songs and banter are a big part of my match day experience and enjoyment of going to games.

A quarter of a billion pounds in profit over the past 5 seasons mate. Don't fall for the PSR/FFP narrative. No-one's asking to be let in the stadium for free. We're asking for a price freeze and more sensible match day pricing. That's not an unrealistic request. The cost of my season ticket has gone up 31% since Covid. For fans in other parts of the stadium it'll be higher.

Whilst I'm totally behind the objectives to make ticket pricing sensible and affordable for all, I'd just caution that a large chunk of that profit is down to player sales and not the ordinary day to day activities, which have been loss making for many years. The club would argue that there's no guarantee that there is a steady stream of players to be sold at huge profit every year.

Having said that, our match day income was £75m last year - the impact of a 5% rise would be to piss us all off hugely for an amount that just about covers a couple of days expenses for the club. No-one with any business sense should be doing that, particularly when you're about to open up a huge expansion to the seats available - you can treat your existing "customers" well and still have room to grow revenue. Not rocket science...
