I try but doesn't work out

One Valentines weekend took ex up to London, had rang restaurant, they said didn't need to book (was full when we got there), walked round for ages and got in tiny Italian with no time for starter or sweet as I had booked tickets (online) for Ratpack at Strand Theatre, thought would be nice romantic show but was normal show, worst seats in theatre and we missed last train home

for me, romance isn't necessarily about the big gestures but more the everyday things which show that you are aware of the other person's feelings. e.g.,
- the days your other half gets up to make the children's breakfast leaving yo to have a lie in
- picking up a favourite bottle of wine because you happened to see it on sale when you nipped out for a pint of milk
- not needing to ask where you want to go on a night out because you already know what types of places each other would like

all of that said, my children are off to their dad's at 3pm tomorrow so if anyone wants to whisk me away for a champagne fuelled romantic weekend away i can be good to go by 3.30.

You see, for me, that's not Romance. That's a relationship.
Romance is a gesture, something planned, not practical or domestic. It's daft, soppy, sentimental, dramatic, extraordinary.
