Romeo Lavia

Dippers supposedly had a £37 million bid rejected. They'll have to pay the £50 million southampton want as we will take 20% of the fee or very close to it anyway but with an opening bid of 37, it seems like they aren't too far off and its one that could actually get done.

If it does, have to think we fucked up with this deal. Ending up with a bit over £20 million total and him going to the dippers a year after we sell him wouldn't have been the plan.

Don’t forget we also paid to get him from Anderlecht, so I think the total “profit” would be 10m ish.

By the time you factor in wages and agents fees etc I doubt we’ll have made any significant money on this venture.

I think it’s probably because Phillips wants to stay and fight for a place ?

so if Jesus said he wanted to stay we wouldn’t have bought Haaland?

I’m sympathetic to Phillips but I don’t know why next season would be built around his feelings.

Besides he wanted to stay when we wanted Rice, we wanted Bellingham, so they were chasing another midfielder in the squad anyway.

The thing is, we know he’s shit.

Totally agree mate, I think we need another one anyway? Lavia might not want to sit on the bench either though whereas Bellingham or Rice would probably be guaranteed starters? I’d love to see is grab a top class midfielder though like Valverde, Frenkie or Barella but I think we are staying as is in the midfield area as well

20m for a teenager is a great bit of business. What a bizarre take.
It's evidently not when he's potentially going to the dippers for around £50 million 12 months later.

It's fine to accept we haven't got things 100% spot on, all the time.

I would imagine that City are relaxed about it personally.

The money will be welcomed and re-invested
Disagree. I strongly suspect we will have looked at the lavia situation and changed the structure of the clauses we insert when selling the likes of Charles, Trafford and Borges this summer to protect or even prevent any of them blowing up this season and moving to a rival 12 months later.

We couldnt stop them with any clause, we get a sell on and thats it. The player will always get a choice.

I can’t be the only one stumped by this. Is it just stubbornness? I trust Pep & co to know which players are good enough, but aside from seeing him and seeing he’s brilliant myself, I also know for a fact that Liverpool and Klopp, Pochettino and Chelsea etc know a good player when they see one - not to mention Kompany who sent him to us in the first place.

Genuinely I’m mystified!
Ever considered that Lavia doesn't want to be here?

Maybe he doesn’t want to come back to us or pep seen enough of him and his character and don’t rate him
