Romeo Lavia

Slightly harsh, he was EDS player of the year at 17 in a team with the likes of Palmer, Delap and Mcatee

I only mean that our EDS were very rarely the second best team on the pitch and with more control he didnt have to uses the full extent of his skills. Off the clips he looks great against a good team of Premier League standard, having to find the space rather given it in the EDS.

Still gutted we sold him, we are not stacked in central or holding midfield and have a small squad. The 5 subs rule would have been perfect for him this year.

Really hope we’ve sold with the intention of buying back, and not just aimlessly thinking we’ll wait a see in a few years.

What is the buy back figure, do we know?

Did so well by all accounts, and is going to get a ton of experience. Really hope he comes along big time.

Bazunu I've got high hopes for, too. Conceded 4, but wasn't at fault for any of them - hope he doesn't lose confidence and keeps his place.

I have seen 40m but the important thing is that the deal is there.
He was always a talent and let's hope that the next couple of years see him become a top, top player.

I am happy with the deal actually. He plays a such a pivotal position(no pun :)) that it is never easy for a teenager to build up enough trust at a big club fighting for titles. He could actually be building that experience this season, who knows he could be the Gundogan replacement ! 25m net is not a big money for City to pay for his development imo.

Biggest concern (assuming city do retain interest) is whether or not he still feels the affinity for city that will entice him back

2+ years away, getting linked with all the top clubs could turn his head. Time will tell

If he has any affinity?

He had only been here for 2 years, if we do go back for him I don't think he's got anything against the club as we've helped him get to where he is now.

The lad looks very impressive on those clips. Stood out more than he did in our EDS team in truth.
He was superb in our EDS,very rarely fell below an 8/10.He didnt catch the eye of most because he does the dirty work and keeps his game simple.

Huge talent, and should have saved us 42m.

topical question but could he have done a good job at LB? I presume he wouldn't have had the pace or height.

He wont,Rodri and Philips are only young.

Another top club will snap him up,maybe even the Dippers as a Henderson replacement or Chelsea as a Kante.
yup, but I meant it to all the people who mention these buyback options.

They are no good if the player doesn't want to comeback, in fact they will be pointless and as we dumped him off once then unlikely he will come back.

Different if they were Manchester lads and City fans ie like Barcelona youths going back when whistled.

Right footed so would be a square peg in a round hole. I could see him as a centre half though but probably his best position is as a DM.
If he fulfills he potential then then he will play for better teams than Southampton but he is in a great position to be starting in the top flight at his age.

It would have been, but i saw enough, and so did the Saints,to believe he could step up.
Pep's mistake was not giving him the opportunity, when he had several chances to do so,last season.

It was THE disappointment for me last season, that he wasn't bedded in, knowing Fernandinho would leave. He held and holds soo much promise. Agree with everything you said.

Kid could have been our own Camavinga, I hope we haven't lost a gem here. Anyway I believe in about 5 years we would be looking to bring him back. Rodri and Kal are both 26, in 5 years they should be in their 30's, still playing regularly but not on every match day, Lavia should get a lot of game time by then...assuming we bring him back.
