There are not two camps at all. There are 3 or posters and then the rest of us.

Stop getting so vexed and insulting.

Your first paragragh is misrespresenting those posters trying to reason with you and give their opinion.

It was you that said you wanted two or three debuts in the Capital One Cup. Nobody said you are not allowed an opinion because you are not a coach as most on here are not. They simply said that they trust the professionals within the club who are looking at these players day to day to have a better informed opinion than all of us.

Nobody said our kids are shit and some said that they will likely to go on to have great careers whether with City or not.

I finished with this discussion as I don't want you to get too sore a head ;-)

You don't know what their opinion is. You are assuming you know.

The Otamendi deal did appear confusing and sudden. Could it be that we've agreed to do a favour, as they couldn't afford to pay the outstanding fee for Negredo? Could we have negotiated Denayers new deal in good faith, but then had the opportunity of Otamendi landed on us out of the blue?

So let me get this straight. If we want to use kids at all we gave to be ejther an 'elite club' or a 'non elite' club. Basically Barca can do it, Arsenal can do it, Liverpool, Birmingham & Bayern Munich can do it, but City are a special case who will lose everything by giving some kids an occasional bit of time on the pitch ?

This is seriously how it is ?

Again, you're grossly over-simplifying it. Barca are established and 9 times out of 10, are in an exclusive battle with Real Madrid. Furthermore, they've had nearly 20 years of bringing through players of the calibre of their first team, they also benefit from a B club system that allows them to coach and judge their young charges in a professional league.

Arsenal have not played a new young player this season, you can argue Bellerin, but he got his chance through injuries and poor form and took it, Pozo was given a similar opportunity and didn't take it, nothing special from their own products.

Liverpool aren't a title threat, and refuse to invest in their squad properly. They, like Spurs, blood the younger talent because their owners don't want to spend the required net to challenge for the top accolades.

What relevance Birmingham have I don't know, they're not even in the top-flight.

Bayern currently monopolise a 1 team league, and who is the new Bayern group of starlets I'm missing after the signings of Vidal and Douglas Costa, Alaba's been around a while now, and the couple they used sparingly last season are either back at Bayern II for the start of the season, or been sold.

So, no, I'm missing your prime example of a top club developing into an elite club, in an ultra-competitive league that have blooded a couple of new youngsters either this season or last season, into the first team who have seen regular game time.

what he said^^

Don't think it's about giving them a chance I think it's about giving them an opportunity and seeing if they step up and take it. Denyar accepted a 5 year deal, next year MDM is gone and he's one of the 4 in the first team squad. Vinny will be 30 so by the time he's 23 Vinny will be on his way out, just like Dunney was when Vinny arrived at the same age. Otomendi will be 30/31, Mangala 27 and if youngsters like Facey, Bossaerts and Humphreys can't see this as a chance to progress then they are missing the point of the CFA.

Everyone of them should be looking over their shoulders because there is the chance that someone better is following on behind. Take your eye off the ball and we have an in house replacement lined up hungry to take your spot. A five year deal shows we believe in him now he just needs to show he has what it takes. Although not sure about a year in Turkey. Other than getting Champs League experience what's the point? Can't remember the last good central defender to come out of that league.

Well I'm sorry, Lopes, Denayer, Barker, Garcia etc. all went on tour this summer, Humphries got given the chance to play. I don't buy this for a second, in past years players haven't been good enough, I remember the Villa cup game where we did play a couple of kids. Nobody should have made their debut, it's up to them to earn it.

thats a terible argument that was what 3 years ago now ? with lesser quality players

Caballero, Sagna, Kolarov, Demichelis, Mangala, Fernandinho, Milner, Yaya Toure (Navas 60), Silva (Nasri 9 (Aguero 70), Jovetic, Dzeko - was the team that played newcastle last year, not one young player there or against boro. if your telling me denayer, roberts, barker, lopes aren't good enough to start in a carling cup match then we may swell scrap the academy. we do have to find some middle ground and youngsters just like at every other top club need a chance at least in cup games, its not going to mean we instantly lose. i dont understand the fear of playing youth players on here.

The pressure of the battle with Real Madrid means that it is a risk to blood youngsters into the first team when they are the biggest spenders in Europe of the past 15 years. Do you think it's acceptable for the Catalans to finish second to Francos Madrid ?

So basically every team in the world apart from City, can risk bringing through young players, but in our case it will be fatal. Because when one of the kids makes a mistake, it will be much worse than Willy Caballero diving under the ball, or Clichy sticking half a leg out not stopping a cross, or Javi Garcia, Scott Sinclair, Rodwell, Pizaro, & all the oter fucking no marks who have got games in the past 5 years.

It was ok to sign them for loads of money & let them fuck up whenever, we could still continue our journey with dzeko strolling around like he was on holiday for most of last season, but if one of our own kids makes a mistake, it will cost us everything.

Just total fantasy.

Well, the reality is, Denayer and Lopes weren't here last season. Furthermore, it's fine saying play them in the Carling Cup, but then when we rightly stick to the first team for league games, what do we do with those kids? Send them back to the EDS, that will upset this lot again anyway. So the choice is, keep them for the occasional game, or send them out to a competitive team to play every week, which is what we chose. Barker wasn't ready last season, and Roberts wasn't here.
