No

No risk involved.

The worst that happens is he leaves as he can't get in the team. Well he's left anyway.
Yes I agree with your stance on this.

We are following Chelsea's blueprint to the letter, buy up the best youngsters around, loan them out to raise their profile , sell on for a tidy profit which will offset the cost of first team player acquisition.

Once every 10 years we will unearth a wonder kid who demands to be in the first team at a precocious age , the rest will be used as an amortisation mop

Silly response, he is about to start a full season with the first team at 18 years old.

No, its not silly. It's true! We can't use a sat on the bench Iheanacho as proof! He's very much a backup. If he plays more than 3 or 4 games i'll hold my hands up, as it stands I don't think he'll even make the bench when KDB joins the squad.

I don't understand what you are saying. Lopes did not want to sign a contract it seems to me. I would presume if we had Messi in our academy at 18 we may have recognised
he was a little bit special and likely to become a better player than Navas.
Ronaldo would not have got in this team, nor Bale, nor Sterling.

Our lack of interest in using kids, ever, is what causes others to refuse contracts.

It's as simple as that. Messi might have, but if we're waiting around for the new greatest player ever to turn up...well...we've got no chance. Might happen in twenty years.

I'd settle for developing a bale and maybe a Xavi and a Sanchez or two though? That'd be nice wouldn't it?...what? we have to actually play them for that to happen? Oh. never mind.

let's be honest, you don't have a clue whether they would or wouldn't, because the scenario has never happened.

The second line is a gross exaggeration, and so far, one person has refused a new contract, and we've made a profit.

Some are arguing that the youth should be on the bench and gently eased into the team. I agree with that if they are good enough. Like I said earlier they have to be better than those in the squad in that players position.

You seem to be suggesting that they should be thrown in the deep end to see if they can swim. It will never happen because we are not a club that can affoed to do that. We used to be but not any longer.

Isn't it all down to the shit we pulled with dena yer. I hope to god that we don't sell denayer at a later date

Denayer has just signed a 5 year contract and if he decides not to stick around then fair enough we still get a very good fee as well.

And unfortunately we will lose a load of talent to other clubs if we do it like that. I'm really shocked & disappointed by this as I bought into the stuff they said 100%.

I hope it's just down to Pellegrini being scared but if it's not, there is no point in those of us who wafch the kids teams, bothering.

I am not suggesting they should be thrown in at the deep end at all! I'm suggesting easing them in as they ARE good enough! But we dont even do that. Garcia, Ambrose, Barker, Bryan, Gunn, Celina, Byrne, Ntcham, Angelino, Maffeo, Boadu etc etc...ANY of them should have made their debut in a cup game last season cos they simply deserved for the results, performances and football they played in the academy games last season. They all did better than Pozo, yet he was thrown in as a desperate last resort! But we didn't, and we never do. THAT'S what im suggesting. Fair integration...not fucking nowt ever.

What evidence do you have that we conned Denayer?

His agent saying press to the that they told him they weren't going to sign a new CB and making assurances he'd be involved, then signing Otamendi...how about that?

When we have a "kid" that is likely to become a superstar then surely the club will recognise it. Who is refusing to sign contracts ?

If you mean Lopes then the club have deemed him not good enough for the first team squad and he didnt want to sign without guarantees. Getting decent money for him seems to me the best for both club and player.

No they're not. They are pointing out why he won't sign.
I disagree with their assumptions about why he hasn't signed a new contract. I said back in March he wouldn't be playing for City again.
I also disagree with the false assumption that we somehow conned Denayer into agreeing a contract. Just as I also disagree with the shit stirrer who has been laying false claims across two threads about our youngsters have had enough.

We can always buy him back in a few years.

By the time this thread reaches 2900 pages he'll be a world beater.

I'll get this one started...

Bump.

His agent saying they were promised we would not be signing a senior central defender. Before signing, he clearly said that he would be asking for assurances about a place in the first team squad. He got that, then signed the deal, then they signed Otamendi.

If I was a kid at the academy that would be the end of trust for me.
