We are producing the very best now. We are not going to produce many kids better than the best of these. If w can't find one or two out of this lot, it isn't going to happen at City.

And we are in transition. Sterling, DeBruyne, Delph, in & Dzeko Jovetic out along with 2 new cbs in the past year = transition. It wasn't even me that mentioned it, I wa replying, but it's right nontheless.

Apologies if it was just you responding to somebody else and not your comment, it's hard to keep up sometimes but i still don't deem that as being in transition. Our core has been kept, we've not lost any key players, we'll only be in transition to the point of it being an excuse for not putting up a title challenge if we were to lose a few of our key players at once (Hart, Kompany, Zab, Yaya, Silva Kun)

As for the talent we're producing, that's open for debate. As good as some of them are, i don't see them being the best we'll ever produce. I think a lot of people are expecting an entire team full of homegrown kids, that's simply never going to happen. We're looking for 1-2 players in a generation(i'm talking 10 years-ish) from the academy to be good enough to be a regular part of our squad. I think we've already found 1 in Kelechi and i think we're lucky we've found him so soon.

with 12 months left on a contract he wasn't going to renew. So,yes, excellent business.

If the lad was happy, getting opportunities that contract would be extended. We have lost one of our most promising players for 9 million. The fact he was not going to renew is a failing in our system. The money is not a cause for celebration.

Fixed that for you..

I can't think of a player more perfectly suited to it. He is perfect for City too, apart from he's untried aerially vs Prem cfs. If I could guarantee Denayer aerially, I would be looking to train him up & play him now, a first choice in the Prem for City. He is the best 1v1 defender at the club & the best footballer out of all defenders.

He has got the confidence but he still lacks the consistency to challenge the likes of Vinny, Mangala and Demichelis and the only remedy for that is game time. He would have the same problems at Barcelona.

He isn't renewing because he isn't anywhere near the level of Silva,Nasri,KDB,Sterling or even Navas. For the sake of both parties a move, with a sell on,is great business. The academy producing a talent worthy of a very decent club like Monaco is certainly cause for celebration imo.

He lacks consistency ?

When ? Where ? The only bad game I've ever seen the kid have, was when that silly old fucker stuck him next to Cameron Humphries vs Real Madrid. I must have seen him 60 times in recent years & he's never had a bad game.

Playing in the SPL is one thing but playing the against the likes of Real Madrid (friendly or not) is a different kettle of fish.

Well, we could see tomorrow regarding Kelechi, it was just a hypothetical scenario to illustrate the unpredictability and perhaps risk averse nature the manager has when he has targets and is always under such scrutiny. Maybe you're right about Malaga and resources, but perhaps it's also to do with the lack of expectation compared to us, yes Malaga had money but Pelle always had the Barca/Real card to play, which he can't here. I think it's that scrutiny and job pressure which is playing a significant role, but ultimately if we want to see kids in the manner suggested, the first team has to earn the trust of the boss by beating teams as expected and allowing him the opportunity.

It will be interesting tomorrow, as the first home game we're expected to win, what team he picks and how he makes his subs. I hope we fix last season and go and do our business, and maybe then the likes of Kelechi will get time.

Its all a bit hypothetical until the season really gets going. It will also be interesting (hope it does not happen) if Aguero, bony were injured at the sane time would he gamble with Kelechi.

Personally I think Pellers is a bit risk averse. Whether that is an age thing I do not know. When everton were struggling with left backs It seemed a great time to switch Sterling over there to really light the blue touch paper to his career. Similarly would be nice to see Nasri given 20 minutes in the Silva role behind the striker, when he is brought off in the latter stages of games. They are only two examples, of recent events, but he seems conditioned by a set way of thinking. Although I doth my cap to the change in formation even though many have been screaming gor it for months (especially in champs lge).

Aye, aye.

If he has a killer season for Galatasaray he'll be in a prime position for a loan to Everton/ Spurs/ Liverpool.

If he can then thrive there he'll be in a prime position to claim a centre back berth at City.

And if he finds it tough amongst a load of nutters, at 19 with a coach who is not the best or a partner who doesn't help him, he will come back as Dedryck Boyata.

Although not a success for City it is for the academy...A young player choosing an academy first and upmost want a career in football, it is not all about making the first team (as much as it is for me and you). Lopes will be shown as a success and he is, Monaco on a decent contract must be a great life for a 19 year old and lots of young players will want to replicate that.

I understand the academy when in full flow should be aiming at making 20 million a year in transfer fees/ loan fees etc. We will have a lot of talented youth players leave pretty much each year and the plan must be to keep the best for ourselves so when the chance presents itself the odd one will make it.

We have one this season and probably expect 2 next season (Angelino and Denyer) possibly replacing Clichy and Demi. Possibly a chance for a right back as well depending on Sagna.

This season everyone wanted new talent in the squad, amount of posts regarding signing no-one of significance in the last few seasons. I think that has been achieved and next season we may see some youth along with new signings

Why do you think that is?

Other clubs have won the league and champs lge with kids as part of their squad? Why is it different for City?

No one is expecting the team to be full of kids, but with the players we are producing they are more than worthy of a squad place. There seems to be also this argument that players who cost a significant amount of money are immediately better or having a collection of the best players also makes the best squad.

Kane outperformed ade and soldado last year. Coquelin was better than the vast majority of defensive midfielders. The same arguments could have been made for not giving them a chance last year. Both clubs have benefitted from playing them
