Wayne Rooney will miss the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City after having a two-match ban upheld.

The Manchester United striker was charged with using offensive language after he swore into a TV camera as he celebrated completing a hat-trick against West Ham.

Rooney accepted the charge but argued that the automatic two-match ban incurred was "clearly excessive".

He will also miss Saturday's Premier League match against Fulham.

Although I'm glad he won't be playing, he's not their best striker at the moment. Hernandez and Berbatov are the 2 to be worried about in my opinion.

Will make them more determined to beat us now - "Win it for Wayne"
What result would have had you optimistic?

Re: Rooney ban upheld: misses FA cup match

He didnt play in the 0-0 at Eastlands either and we didnt win that game.

We need to have belief we can beat them wheather he plays or not against us.

It is a boost though as he is showing form of late.

C'mon City!!

Re: Rooney ban upheld: misses FA cup match

I knew we would turn this in to a negative for us!
Its a good result for us - remember the overhead fluke, last weeks hattrick,
last nights goal!

Dont care if he plays or not for I personally cannot fooking wait for next Sat to get all us blues together BRING IT ON....

"FA obviously paid by City, only way they have a chance"
"not bothered anyway, we're not a one man team"

I tell you what some Rags are confused.com

Well I see it but I don't believe it. Wow.

***Edit***

Notice they didn't dare deem the appeal 'frivolous' though. Not that I give a shit really.

Re: Rooney ban upheld: misses FA cup match

this can only be a positive for city - HE ALWAYS UPS his game for us ! they are not in the slightest bit confident about beating city be assured of that .

I'm glad he won't be playing us at Wembley he has had the knack of always scoring against us recently!

They'll play Berbaflop up front on his own and pack the midfield with work horses and kickers!

Can't agree there.

As much as Rooney has been off form, he is a matchwinner and still has a bigger presence on the pitch than Berbatov and Hernandez.

Fully agree. Rooney is back in form now. 4 in his last 2 games shows that.

So the FA does have a backbone of sorts after all.
But it's a new FA. "He's David Bernstein, he does what he wants!"(in the interest of MCFC fans!)

I really wouldn't gloat over this. It may seem like victory but it really isn't. We know they are still a good side. They will want to win it for Wayne and throw it in the face of The FA.

I hate them, but I know they are capable even without him. Sure, they will miss him but write them off at your peril. I'm not saying anything, I've had it thrown back at me too many times before now.
