Ross Barkley

He loves Everton, he has just signed a 4 year contract and we're very well set financially. We hold all of the cards.

I'm relaxed about the situation. Worst comes to worst and he leaves (and I'm 99% sure it won't come to this), then we will have rinsed you or any other money club for a ludicrous amount of money.
Like Rooney loved Everton? or Rodwell, Arteta, Lescott, Cahill or Fellaini?

What Everton can offer Ross Barkley:
- Guaranteed first team football
- Europa League

What City can offer Ross Barkley:
- More money
- Champions League
- Trophies
- The best training facilities in Europe
- The chance to play with the likes of Yaya Toure, David Silva and Frank Lampard

If you look on the barkley thread on the grand old team, it appears that they're oblivious to the fact that ffp is no more a concern for us. Obviously we won't be spending 100's of millions like we have in the past but the shackles will be off next summer and a fair amount of money will be spent. I can just picture bitter rival fans asking where ffp is and why isn't it stopping us.

I agree with the main thrust of your post, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if we break our record spend in a window this summer.

That really will start the gnashing and wailing.....

I don't think it would be the right move for City to go for Barkley next season and I don't think it would be the right move for him now. Barkley needs to be playing games and the experience at Everton is good for him. He finally will also be getting European matches. At the moment he is not good enough to play for City and I don't think City are prepared to take a step back and develop a team. Barkley at the moment is being protected, but he will be under immense at City. I think it would be best for both parties if he has at least one more season at Everton.

EDIT
Barkley being English is also a player I think City will always have a great chance of signing no matter who they are competing with. They have already beaten United at their pomp for the likes of Nasri. He is not like a Pogba, who looks Madrid or PSG bound.

Nothing really. No better than Nasri, if not worse. But because he's English... I'd rather have Gundogan, Pogba or Koke. In that order.

I beg to differ ... Barkley is powerful, direct, very quick and explosive .... Not really much like Nasri... We've only seen glimpses of Barkley, its been a bit stop/start for him with injuries but I think he's the next big English talent, if we let Chelsea or Man Utd get him I think it'll be a big mistake especially with the lack of top quality HG players around ...

Yeah, but the thing is we need HG players to have deep squad, especially if we flog Clichy off and upgrade LB position next summer.
