Phil jones at Blackburn looked a prospect no argument about the other 2 but Youngs diving won them the league!
I admit I was being a little fecitious :P but I wouldn't worry too much if players like Shaw and Barkley were to join United. As you point out Jones and to a lesser extent Smalling and Young were touted as bright young English talent when they joined United but it's one thing turning in a few decent performances for a provincial club like Rovers, Villa or Everton to having the pressure of playing for United and 70,000 plus every other week.
The players we are targeting have been identified by Txiki, Ferran and Manuel as players who would not only improve the team but also would take to the style of play and team ethos. We shouldn't just be throwing money at young English players from other clubs for the sake of it. I'm pretty sure that our own crop of talented home grown players will start to come through our academy in due course.
