This is a very niave point of view. We are talking about Britain with all its hang-ups and over-sensitivity of accused racism. Staff with very little power, and a mortgage to pay, would have been wary of making accusations.

Hang on let me think, if I had a job that paid me £20/30g PA and could get a similar paid job quite easily, would I keep quiet and let kids get sexually abused? Was Rotherham council some sort of Mafia type organization? Keep quiet or ur dead meat? Was there not 1 good copper or social worker out of the lot of them? If anybody has a problem with this sort of thing surely kick up a fuss and once the dust settles they'd be promoted not sacked? Would I want to work there if I suspected anything like that?

Your comment about " not one good copper or social worker out the lot of them" is a huge assumption and over simplification.
In fact it is this kind of someone else's problem to sort out attitude that has allowed this kind of thing to go on, for a very, very long time.
Whilst I am of course not for a second saying that individuals should not be accountable for their actions (or in this case inactions), the issue is not one of individuals but of society. Until we all admit and recognise that nothing will fundamentally change.
These crimes need to be seen in the wider context of society perhaps finally confronting the very uncomfortable truth. That the sexual exploitation, abuse and murder of children has been occurring throughout history, in our and most societies.
Ok, we don't like it and hence some of the predictable " lets point the finger" narrow minded and simplistic attitudes which achieve nothing other than a sense of individual moral self worth and ultimately just reinforce the deep rooted issues we all must face as a society. For too long we have collectively ignored how many vulnerable kids are treated. Why? Because to admit and confront the truth is deeply disturbing to us all.
But confront it we must, collectively and all accept responsibility and accountability rather than burying our heads in the sand and looking for scapegoats to make ourselves feel better when the truth does out - as it seems it is now more and more at last.
 
Fucking hell, I've just watched that Panorama programme! Oh my fucking God, I cannot believe we have police, social workers and council officials who are this inept. If this was a programme about child abuse in another country, we'd all be on our high horses saying at least in Britain we'd sort it. It is fucking scandalous.
