Rotherham (FA Cup) Post Match Thread

When the linesman went off injured, why did the bloke who looks like Prince Edward switch sides?

Is there some sort of assistant referee hierarchy that says the senior one has to be closest to the fourth official or something?

Matt, just that I can bring to mind you have had pops at Jesus, Mahrez, Sterling and Sergio in the last fortnight, and from memory completely written off our PL chances. Just saying

Didn't realise it wasn't a forum and we all had to agree with you.
My bad, apologies.

At the same age Lewandowski was playing for Lech Poznań and Allardyce was looking to sign him for Blackburn, Cavani was playing for Palermo, Suarez was playing for Ajax, Firmino was playing in midfield for Hoffenheim, Lukaku had been binned off by Chelsea and was on loan at West Brom, Ibrahimovic was at Ajax... none scoring that many more or less than Gabriel Jesus is for City.

Apart from Gonzalo Higuain (Real Madrid, starter at 20) and Wayne Rooney (United started at 19) no other striker (proper #9) at 21 year’s old was at a proper top club, Benzema and Agüero were two others who were banging the goals in but at Lyon and Atléti. and most of the ones who are top players now had not even really been heard of yet.

Gabriel Jesus might stay at the quality he is now, never really making it at the top level like Balotelli never did... but he might also improve between the age of 22-24 and end up being one of the best in the world.

At his age in his position, it’s very hard to tell.
Fuck off with yer talking sense shite. He's missed loads and loads and loads of chances that any striker in the 2nd Division would have scored, etc, etc, etc......oh, and tons on the Matchday Thread slagged him off, so he must be utter shite.

Who needs press bias when we have plenty in our own ranks ready to rip into players. I'm not on about criticism, which is fair, I'm on about the bollocks.

Weird that, especially a he went back to his 'normal' side in the 2nd half

My point was about refs making up rules as they go along and this was another example

At 7-0 not a topic for me,
but generally only the ref has got the clock, worldwide.

Extra minutes are being handled differently from country to country, mind.
Swiss association is said to give an additional half minute per sub.
In Germany subs are now also taken into account in some way, but not since very long.

The rule though - that was your point - is (not the wording though):
the ref should end the match after 90 minutes and he CAN
add some minutes IF he had the personal impression there was much extra ordinary time wasting.

I didn't see that time wasting today, just many goals and subs.
The ref had all the right to whistle then, but at 7-0 he must have thought 'let's leave it here'.

If some on here needed more goals on their betting sheet ask Jesus, Mahrez and others ;-)
