Roughest grounds you've been too and biggest scraps!

Everton was naughty remember a blue getting stabbed in the head with a potato peeler after the micky mousers claimed they were blues from Birkenhead. they then ran across the pitch to escape it was 1974/5 season.
Forest,Liverpool and man poo were always troublesome.

Remember firms coming into the Kippax st,spuds, birmingham city,Man pooo and Liverpool and the away section in the kippax was always a flashpoint part of the ground
Remember a west ham fan standing to face some city fans who had got in there side 1975/6 had a beard, donkey jacket on and was brave in fending off people trying to have ago,he was with a tall west indian chap with glasses who were these characters?was it gardner, pennant?

Everton Away 1980,
Went on the coach straight to Stanley Park-their boys were there, waited for us to get off and charged us all over the place.I Was 17 and was Terrified,it was even worse coming out.Police just stood there laughing.

Cardiff Away 1994
A welcolme in the hillside?? NO CHANCE-Half of South Wales (and other parts) probably turned up that day to take on the English.Golf Balls with nails were the order of the day i remember, and again the Police stood and watched! Thank Goodness we lost.

-- Tue May 21, 2013 4:17 pm --

Everton Away 1980,

The scouse coppers had another trick that if you got nicked they would release you right by a mob of scousers letting all and sundry know you were a Manc!

Leeds away 1974 week after losing to Wolves in the League Cup final. Came out of the cowshed got a right kicking lost two teeth and black eye . Was rescued by a mob of blues from Langley . Big hard guy from Langley think he was called George laid into load of Leeds fans. Langley had quite a crew then

Don't know if this has been mentioned but if anybody went to Dublin in 89 or 90 ( can't remember the exact year ) when we played celtic at Tolka Park then you will know what rough is. We were sat in the middle of all the IRA supporters and they really enjoyed telling us about all the British troops that they had killed.

This was the only time I have been scared at a match and I was at the Newcastle game in 77.

I was there with the wife, about 500 City and about 10,000 Celtic which I did not expect obviously!

Went in my City shirt as it was a lovely day.

As I got there had a run in at the back of the stand(someone called McMahon an English Bastard) so sat further down next to some sound Scottish Celtic fans who took us under their wing so to speak. They said the Derry Boys had come down for us.Quite ironic really as I was christened at Gorton Monastery.

I remember a Union Jack burning and landing on the fence in front of us just as Vonky came over to take a throw in - he looked at me in my City shirt sat in a sea of Green as if to say what the f.......

On the way out Celtic fans at the top of the stand which overlooked the walkway pissed on me and the wife,I know how to show a girl a good time.

That said, the worst day I can remember was Luton away the last game of the season in 1975. First away game, I was 14 and went with mates on a football special. I recall it being fucking mental all day. I can recall it was a sunny day and there was a 'rampage' from the stadium back to the station. It probably just seemed bad because I was only a kid at the time, but it was non stop all day.

I was on the special that day! Like you said a red hot day and the Luton fans invaded the pitch but decided to turn back when they got to the half way line!....All the Luton fans were on a bridge just before the station waiting for us. They had a right firm!....Deb that well know City girl was on the train. A right fighter she was!
Yep, that was a day of mayhem. Deb used come to the game with us, as game as any lad. R.I.P. Debbie.

Luton was never a good place to go in 70's/80's .... they had a nasty little firm there and were always up for it ..... there was an alleyway on the way back to the station that was a nightmare to walk down , ambush alley ...... my mate spent four days in hospital after watching City in a midweek league cup night there .. and yes , it was in that very same alley where he got his kicking !

Anyone go to Stamford Bridge when away fans were banned? Think it was to do with trouble the previous season when they had playoffs for relegation (maybe v Boro)?

I used to brave Stamford Bridge in the 70's , when the headhunters were runnin' amok , and the home club had no idea what crowd segregation even was ...... we might as well have been fuckin' banned then .... due to Chelseas rather fearsome reputation , i think there was only me and three others turned up !

That reminds me of my first visit to the Bridge in 74/75, it was the first time I saw someone openly pull out a knife on the terraces. Asa Hartford had just scored the only goal and this Cockney in a sheepskin coat was walking round the terrace obviously looking out for any City fans and he pulled a flick knife out of his pocket. Luckily I'd had the good sense not to cheer the goal.

I was at that 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge when Hartford scored , me and my girlfriend were sat amongst Chelsea fans in the stand, you daren't have celebrated that goal , it was more than your life was worth ...... when we got that winner the atmosphere was a bit hostile , so we left with around five minutes to go ..... we'd only just got back to the coach when around 100 Chelsea yobs surrounded it , armed with bricks and sticks , and one lout attempted to board the coach until Helen threatened to clout him with her bell !

They then bricked one or two of the coach windows before motorbike cops arrived on the scene and shifted em' up the street !
