Royal Family abusing their power

The monarchy is an anachronism that really shouldn't feature in how countries are led in the 21st century. Hereditary entitlement is just wrong.

Having said that I'm happy to live with it as the least worst option. We've all seen what can happen when a populist idiot gains absolute power in other countries, and our monarchy provides certain checks and balances to largely prevent this happening here. If we do end up with a mad George III style monarch, parliament would be able to sideline them fairly quickly.

We do live in an actual democracy. What you're describing is a republic, we tried that, it didn't work out so hot. But our current system ensures that no one institution can have 100% power and control over the public. Imean if living in an "actual democracy" was what was so important to you, why haven't you migrated to one?
No, we live in a constitutional monarchy. Whilst our head of state is a hereditary monarch we are not a true democracy. I appreciate she doesn't wield much power, but she does wield power, and I'd like to see that removed. Well aware it almost certainly won't happen mind. As for moving elsewhere, well we'll see about that. If a decent opportunity came up for me now, me and my family would almost certainly be gone. I love the north west of england, especially Manchester, but I'm tired of this regressive shitty little country.

Plenty of monarchies collapsed during the 20th century, although there was some push back and revival in some countries after communism and fascism.

There is no reason to assume that the current dynasty of scroungers will survive until the 22nd. I think once Lizzy has gone we will see the eventual decline and acceptance by the future incumbent that it is time to shut up shop.
