Royal Family abusing their power

Seripusly though most republics that have a president as a head of state uses that role exactly like we use Lizzie, as a Person to respesent the nation, not hold power.

The only difference is tgey have to earn the title through democratic elections, not be given it as a right of birth.

A monarch in the modern age is a ridiculous concept, even in Thailand where the king is seen as above everything they are coming to realise this.

Remove the monarchy and House of Lords and elect ahead of state and second chamber to hold the commons to account.

You could still have an elected Head of state and keep the royal family as ceremonial figureheads if they so wished.

I would be quite happy with that.

Well an elected head of state would only have ceremonial duties so why have both imo.

You have a choice elect the head of state or allow them to be given it by birth right as we do now.

If you keep the queen you limit the monarchy titles to her and the heir(s) the rest are commoners and make there way like any other citizen not some extended priverlidge.

Funny fact for the forum, The queen of Denmark Magarethe 2nd is the Colonel in Chief of the royal Hampshire regiment, she automatically was given this title when she became Danish queen.

If you hate it, jog on.

I love it, I love the people, the weather, the countryside and of course, God’s own club Manchester City.

I have no time for self-hating anti British ideologues.
Mate, fuck off. You're just an argumentative little troll who seems to spend his entire time on here trying to get into arguments. You have nothing to offer the conversations, just being a knob.

You’ve just come on and slagged the country off, calling it a “regressive shitty little country” and I’m an argumentative troll?

The fact is, Bluemoon’s left dish it out but can’t take it.

If you don’t like the country, fucking leave it, stop moaning about it.

Jon is a very sensible person actually and deffinately not rabid left like maybe Rascal and Myself.

Honestly a lot of people would fuck off from this country if they could, or see it as being not what it was and maybe a change would be better, in fact shitloads have and a lot of them ponce off and show a lot move love for this place as emigrants than many that stay here and claim patriotism.

Having lived overseas, and tbf if not for personal reasons at the time I would still be overseas, never stopped me caring about this place and it being my homeland, but let's be honest in some ways it is a shaddow of it's former self, got shit weather and a perpetual shit government, give me my old rice field large house in Thailand or a a nice Villla on the Med opposed to a terrace in Gorton, well I would choose the first two.

Also you shouldn't keep accusing everyone who disagrees with you as being far left as many won't be bar.

I didn’t accuse him of being far left.

Someone who describes the UK in that way isn’t sensible and very much is rabid.

People risk their lives and sometimes give their lives trying to leave France for Britain. Then you get moaning fuckers like him. It does my head in.

Stop threatening to leave and gracing us with your miserable presence and fuck off if you don’t like it. I’d sooner replace people like that with immigrants that showed pride in being here.

(Not you, people like that).

I'm not particularly anti or pro royal, I can see both sides. It's a complicated and emotive subject.
I have been critical of the queens lack of presence during the pandemic, I want to see more of her, if only because she's a great orator, and she could have a great effect on the nations morale, particularly the elder ones.
At the end of the day, she's been a great queen, dedicated her life to her country, she commands respect all over the world, no one can deny she's been good at her job.
Them wanting rid should be careful what they wish for.

Yes I am perfectly aware but are you aware of those posting on here and what their views are?

The hope was a reasonable discussion around this situation and what had happened and how the monarchy should rectify it.
But it's interesting that your question is what the monarchy should do to rectify it, rather than what the government should do to rectify it. I'm of the opinion that if members of the royal family have been interfering in the democratic process for personal gain, then they should be told what's going to happen in the future by the democratically elected government, not asked awfully if they wouldn't mind us changing the rules.
