Probably 2 more league titles, a couple of FA cups and Champions Leagues, European super cups, club world cups.

Id go for at least 8 more.

If you just want to sit back and say we've done better than we could have dreamed of since the takeover, and thus the club can't be criticised ever, than that's a really stupid way to act but feel free to enjoy never criticising anything. I doubt the higher ups at the club think about things that way.
Exactly who did you have in mind who was going to drive us on to 8 more trophies over the last 7 years?

Jorge Jesus speaking about diaz:

"I'm pretty sure it was his last game, but sometimes everything changes at the last second in football,” the Benfica boss said. “I don't think that's going to happen, though.

“He's a player we're sorry to see go, he came through the academy, is our captain and plays for the national team... I also take some of the blame for him leaving today.

"This is all to do with getting knocked out of the Champions League and there are things that need to be balanced (financially) at management level. He has a high market value and is certainly already a fantastic player who will continue to improve.

"Otamendi is a Manchester City defender who could be involved in the transfer. He already showed his ability at FC Porto, he plays for Argentina and has been a regular starter most years at Manchester City.

“He has stopped starting now and if it hadn't been for that, maybe he wouldn't have been included in this possible transfer. Of course, he's a player we'd like to have.

"The player who joins us will have to be understand that my ideas are completely different from those at Manchester City."

If the release clause was 100m then it does excuse not going for him before Benfica bombed out of the CL

It doesn't excuse not getting him last summer when we desperately needed a CB and he was available for €66m and was just as highly regarded.

Also doesn't explain why they waited 2 vital weeks for the season to start before making a move, Benfica knew they were financially in trouble if they didn't win that game and would need to sell someone important months ago.

This transfer stuff is all so very easy isn’t it...

Lol at thinking we would win CL based on just otamendi not signing, our best players have not been able to win it so far, some down to manager, some down to individuals, you think a centre back would help us win 8 more trophies including a CL. Insane.

Who knows? There must be a perfectly valid reason - it’s just not made public. Negotiations are not easy. City don’t want to make things difficult for themselves - although some on here seem to think they do it on purpose!

We wouldn't have paid €100m for him, we weren't even paying more than £60m for Maguire. The club has a policy, they did sign a centre back, and within the money they wanted. Last season no one could have predicted Laporte's ACL injury, you cannot predict these things and just lash big money, Otamendi couldn't move last summer either (wage issue same as before, contract renewal shouldn't have been done, most will agree). This rant is pathetic

Dias now looking much the likelier, and cheaper, option to join City , if only because of Sevillas 'fee stance' on Kounde . but an interesting comparison article regarding both players here ....... with a little warning to City regarding Uniteds purchase of Lindelof at the tail end of it!
