Massive risk if it happens, hope it pulls off. I’ve been dissatisfied with every player we’ve signed from Portugal so far. I can also count on one hand how many Portuguese players have played well in the PL.

You’d think we were signing Mustafi with the negativity on here..

Can’t say I know much about Dias but I trust Txiki more than the Twitter statistic experts

If he can score from a corner I'm happy, bit of defending here and there, couple passes into midfield. Easy as that haha

Koulibaly or Kounde would have been my preference, bth not seen him play. Benfica fans not happy he is leaving is a good sign, but it definitely sounds like he is a second/third choice.

Is he any good, any better than what we already have? It's better not to sign anyone than just keep going cheaper and cheaper, by the time we get someone for the price the likes of Villa and Newcastle spend they're probably not good enough to improve us.

Why is it that despite consistently getting CL money, incredible commercial sponsorship and TV income, winning the CAS appeal, as well as being listed in the top 5 wealthiest clubs, we are so reticent to spend whatever we need to to finally get a problem position right once and for all?

If Pep wants Koulibaly just fucking buy the lad. Otherwise next season we'll probably be back looking for a centre back again.
Koulibaly 2 years ago was amongst the best defenders around. I'm not sure now given his age.

We need authority and composure at right sided centre-back, and 99% of bluemooners have zero knowledge of who Dias is. That doesn't make him a bad signing. AFter all there are plenty of signings that are made which aren't recognised as international superstars.

I wasn't overly convinced by Koulibaly or Kounde but I knew we needed a right sided centreback after last season.

I am amazed at some blues encyclopaedic knowledge of European footballers.

'@goodkidmancity' is enough to tell anyone to ignore a 14 year old pleb virgin

I follow that dude on Twitter, I follow his tweets on a daily basis and I'll have you know that he knows his shit. He covers a lot of Football across different leagues including Liga NOS so I would trust his opinion over majority of the users on here or others on twitter. Of course that doesn't mean that you should as well.

And fwiw I think that's a cool username, GoodKidMaadCity is one of my favorite albums.

How do you know he’s better than Stones? He’s coming from Portugal, might as well be coming from Scotland, it’s a gamble from that league. Mangala, Javi Garcia, Fernando, they looked like world beaters.

I swear I remember some story about Brazilian players not being able to do it on a cold, rainy night at Stoke before....

But somehow Fernandino (why quite a few of our fans were wildly against signing), Ederson and plenty of Brazilians (even Jesus) have done more than ok.

But back then this was the perception that you could not even argue against at all with some fans.

Trust me, I remember, because I was one of them trying.

He's obviously at least our third choice. Otherwise I'm not sure what we were doing with Napoli all summer or why Monchi would say we bid for Kounde. It doesn't really matter one way or the other but he very clearly wasn't first choice at the start of the window, or even last week.
Maybe we saw a payback time for napoli, we only spoke through the agent so saw the opportunity to string them along, then leave them high and dry.monchi maybe has agreed to leaking a kounde bid to help us get a good deal for dias,
I don't know if this is fact but I'm not saying it's obvious .to get your transfer targets maybe they are not as straight forward as you think .smoke and mirrors

I’ve seen some suggesting that we are signing Dias as a CDM AND Kounde. That doesn’t make sense to me unless it’s come from this report which has unclear wording?
