Rugby World Cup 2023

No it wasn't. We had them under the cosh and exactly where we wanted them. Basic. Ruck and mauling would have got us over the line, or a penalty and a Fijian in the sin bin. It would have eaten up time.
Yes it was, as evidenced by the fact those points won the game. You’re clueless and literally the sole person on the planet not aware it was the right decision.

That says as mush about the standards of facilities in state schools as anything else. I’ve never met anyone who played rugby Union who hasn’t loved the game for life. I never had the pleasure but it’s played widely in North Leeds with most players having gone to state schools.
I’ve played rugby for 31 years and still play it now at the age of 42 and the majority of team mates I’ve had since leaving school went to comps.

The old cliched and inverted snobbery on this place from cunts that watch rugby union for a month every four years is absolutely staggering.

I don't hate the English though. Happy for the England football team to do well, just hate the England Rugby Union team. Went to university in Hull. The univeristy Rugby Union team was solely full of southern public school tossers, the locals only played and watched league and us state school oiks just played football.
Sorry to hear that. Thoughts and prayers.

If Argentina are a bit shit then Wales, Scotland and Ireland are just as shit, if not more, since they have had worse results in recent World Cups. As an Argentinian, I feel we have already surpassed those 3 teams in terms of level and will only continue to get better competing in the Southern Hemisphere every year.

I really don't see how Argentina are "a bit shit" and Wales was suppossed to have Championship aspirations.
Agree with your first paragraph.

Re your second, that’s the point, the Welsh most definitely didn’t “have a good World Cup”.

I played it for 10 years, played at Twickenham twice and did a tour of SA playing for the county. Most of the players at county level when I played were private or grammar school educated (I was grammar school) as it was the only option when it came to sports. It was rugby then cricket in the spring/summer, that was it. We had boarders at our school that were allowed in purely because of how good they were at rugby.

I think it’s a lot better now than it used to be but as you say state schools don’t have the same provision. I kind of get why though, you really need specialist coaches in the school if you’re going to provide it, mine had that but even then I had two instances where I was asked whether I wanted to sue the school (long stories and I didn’t either time!)

All relative, I thought Wales had a good World Cup considering. Had Faletau and Anscombe both been fit for the Argentina game then it would have been more disappointing to have lost it but them out and Biggar playing injured then having to go off makes for a very different team, there is just about the first team to get results but not the squad at the mo. Wales’s progress was beating Fiji and Australia and blooding the youngsters though, it’s a long way away from Pivac’s tenure already.

I think this has been the best rugby World Cup by far.

I know there have been complaints over the draw, but it has made for a great tournament, there have been 4 games involving the top 4 sides already and we look forward to what is likely to be a NZ v SA final...a replay of 1995 and a chance for the All Blacks to avenge the poisoning incident.

I feel for Scotland as they were the team screwed over most by the draw.

After the Eddie Jones debacle and the uninspiring appointment of Borthwick we've benefited most from the draw, I don't think we've got the quality in players and coaches to put together two big performances in a row. Even if we have one in us, we'll need a lot of luck and for SA to be off their game.

I'd have preferred we stuck with Eddie for the tournament as we'd have reached the same point and he may have had one last trick up his sleeve, then gone all in for Farrell and Edwards dream team to build for the next 4 years.

I love what Farrell has done with Ireland, for those Union fans or newcomers to the sport who haven't indulged in League, I'd say Ireland (and France to a certain extent) play as close to a Union/League hybrid game as you're likely to see.

I'm one of those rare breeds who enjoys both codes, I came to appreciate League more since moving down under.
