Rugby World Cup 2023

Nah there were a few that were pretty clear. I did think the last one was harsh though.
When we had a scrum on their 5 yard line, both their second rows went down, but he just ordered a reset - then gave them a dubious penalty, despite them turning in. I'm not surprised that Antoine Dupont criticised O'Keeffe.

Small margins...

The vast majority of penalties in rugby union are for technicalities at the breakdown. It often needs the right replay to show what it's for.

A former ref said there are usually about 15 offences leading to a breakdown. If they blew for everything the game woukd never go anywhere. They have to basically ignore a lot of stuff they see(will obviously miss stuff as well) and ref in a different kind of way.

It's seems a really hard sport to ref tbh.

If anyone can explain that last scrum penalty then I’m all ears?

Congrats South Africa, bomb squad did what it does but England bullies that Bokke pack for long periods and the game was won on a ref’s call.

Great final next week to look forwards to.

It was a great kick from Pollard too. Agree it was harsh, I do think SA would have fashioned a scoring opportunity anyway though.

I like you but no, it really wasn’t.

Game swung on ref calls, nothing more.
Ref calls in the scrums.
You lost the scrums. Quite a lot.

Most calls, I haven’t a clue why, but you were forced off the ball on your own scrum and forced up on quite a few too.

No worries.

Pointless as an Englishman trying to argue anything other on here with fans of Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Not surprised.
Rules are so technical.

I’m a Wales fan and I agreed with you I thought the last one was harsh :)

The game didn’t just swing on the refs calls though, the subs changed the game.
