Rule changes you'd like to see for 18/19 season

The stupid rule that there can be no retrospective action if the ref shows a yellow card. I'm certain some of them bottle red cards knowing full well that they won't be judged on it Monday morning.

This is the first thing I thought of when I read the thread title.

It wouldn’t have helped us in the game, but it might make cloggers think twice about doing it in subsequent matches.

Do you realise how long the game would be likely to last? In this article;

They give an average time for the ball being in play for each PL team. It ranges from 53 minutes and 34 seconds at West Ham to 58 minutes and 31 seconds at Chelsea (figures taken from last november). So; if you took, say, 56 minutes as a rough overall figure for the ball being in play, that equates to the ball being in play for 62% of the time. So; to have 90 minutes of actual playing time, you'd need the game to last 2 hrs and 25 minutes (if my ropey maths skills are somewhere near correct); I'm sure someone will be on here to correct me! Just to stress; it's a VERY rough and ready calculation! I'm not sure the clubs, the TV companies, the Police or sponsors would be too keen on that.

The way to combat it would be to reduce the match time to 35 minutes a half or 40 minutes a half. That would single-handedly eradicate timewasting.

Have a clock on throw ins and goal kicks. After say thirty seconds a buzzer goes and a foul throw or indirect free kick is given.
Also another thing that grates me is when a throw in or free kick is given, a defender will steal 10 /15 yards.

How about Refs applying the current laws of the game fairly and correctly regardless of who's playing?

It can last all night if necessary, but refs should still book players and I think if they knew the clock would stop then there would be less time wasting than now.

I was just looking through and was going to post exactly what you posted mate.
If the refs did this we would probably go unbeaten next season .
