Spoke to someone today - the club are concerned about the atmosphere and keen to sort it out. They recognise that young lass paying cheaper prices are key for this. Hence the cheap seats and increased capacity. More corporate is needed to permit this and not loose put on income. The North stand will happen in 2 years if we are averaging 52000 plus and filling it x times a season.

I heard from a contractor that they are scheduled to move onto Anfield after the south stand is completed, but the club have approached them and said they are going nowhere as they want them straight on the north stand.
Brilliant, just brilliant
Football's all about opinions.

Carillon are building anfield and laings are building our ends so I am not having his! My source was my brother who works for one of the above.

I take it Carillon specialise in the construction of retail parks.

They do all sorts, recently rebuilt, and now run a military base near London.

Very very very good.

I don't know where this 'delay' notion has come from.
As far as I can recall, City never stated it was going to happen, merely that there was the option to do the North Stand too.
'Delay' makes it sound like a firm plan has been put back, rather than the reality that City haven't yet decided on a firm timeframe for the North Stand.

In practical terms, it makes no difference either way, but in PR terms, 'delay' sounds awful.

Not paid that much attention to it, but doesn't that set up in City Square show an artists impression of both stands completed?

Yes they did, but they always explained South Stand first, then possibly North Stand some time later. I think people got carried away and assumed one right after the other, but City never said that. Admittedly, they were slightly coy on it, and most likely because they DID want to see how the South worked out first, then decide. Which is still where I think they are at.

The media will paint it as a delay or 'adjustment of plans' (essentially suggesting we're struggling to fill it). Chances are, we would struggle to fill it (right now), but nobody at City ever claimed we could.

My mates a sub contractor, he's not employed by either of the above, so there could be some truth in it ???

I doubt it very much mate - the Laing team are wrapping up in September. They are not working on phase 2 yet at all. I firmly believe it will happen at the end of next season or at worst the season after. Just let the pent up demand build up. The club want the atmosphere problem solved. The ends are expensive - 80 million plus and extra revenue from corporate seats elsewhere in the ground to allow cheaper seats to happen in the new 3rd tiers - the tiers will only take about £3 million per season in revenue so the pay pack is horrendous on them as is the cost per seat!

Personally I think we have missed a huge trick not building a new stadium as this one will always have the issue of the middle tiers of the East and West Stands being too far apart from each other which impacts on atmosphere and the fact that the concourses are now being hugely compromised by the expansion but maybe that's just me.

I wouldn't confuse empty seats as unsold seats.

When we say sold out it means just that and if folk don't pitch up for whatever reason, that's their prerogative and the club have had the revenue.
The last 4 PL home games plus the home derby -

Aston Villa, 45,036
WHU, 45,041
WBA, 45,018
Leicester, 45,000
Rags, 45,358

Emptihad indeed...

The pics on here of the villa away end would make me question those figures, we have always got 45k this season no matter how big the gaps are in the away end, or how many empty seats are at the back of the third tiers.

Giving away tickets means the demand s not there at current prices.

Capacity has been reduced this season by 2000 due to the building work and expansion...!
