Running thread

Doesn't quite belong in this thread because there wasn't much running involved but I completed the 100km Peak District Ultra Challenge over the weekend in just under 24 hours. Physically, it was the hardest thing I've ever done but we've raised £5,164 for a cause very close to my heart so every blister and cramp was well worth it.

Had a few days complete rest and, once my toes are back to normal, I'll be back out running. Need a new target to focus on now!
I'd post that in allsorts of random threads if I'd done that, but I think you're safe posting it in a running thread!

Well done mate, that's a great achievement, and even better you've done it raising a few quid

5k race tonight, ran 19:08ish, about a 30 second PB, no idea where it came from. I was only trying to break 20 back in March.

I've had on and off niggles since then but have recently started marathon training, only 2 weeks in but building the strength must be helping.

Very fast race though, finished 160-something place just to give you an idea.

Was that the Sale sizzler?

Just curious as my mate has done it tonight, and posted an incredibly similar time!

Great effort!

Yes it was, around Wythenshawe Park. Fast course, full of fast runners, half of the 402 person field went under 20, first 2 were 14min something, very good standard.

That's crazy, would love to have watched it!

My mate got 19.06 which was a 1 second pb, mad to think there were over 100 people quicker than that!

Not your average parkrun then!!

Has anyone else here been hit by the latest strain of Covid? Jesus H. Christ, I have been hit hard this week! Little chance of getting up off the sofa, never mind out for a run!

I've just forced myself out for a walk/jog (less than 3 miles) and that probably wasn't a good idea as I'm still not recovered.

Got a mate at work who's got it, apparently this latest strain gives you the shits and makes you vomit, so hopefully you dont have that to look forward too.

Hopefully it's on the way out! Definitely don't want to be opening up both ends, especially at the same time.

Speaking of Covid, that's the reason this week's video is just a short one. Not much happened other than me feeling like shit!

Could any of you folks recommend a fitness watch?

ideally one that tracks steps/running speed/heartrate etc and can also be used for weight training

How do these things like to strava as well?

It's not something I've looked into at all, so keen to get some recommendations

Garmin for me, expensive but perfect for what I need. I just have a forerunner that links to Strava and Spotify (& my headphones). So I can listen to music on my training runs and see every run in Strava.

My running got miles better since I got one 2 or 3 years ago, just a lot easier to track my progress and just get out on a run.

I use it for swimming and cycling too on the odd occasion I do those.

I know there are others like Apple and Coros but I've never used them, so can't speak of them. I assume they do similar though.

Nice one mate, I'd been having a look at the forerunner

Is it the 55 that you have?
