Running thread

Really unlucky that mate. My marathon prep got a bit disjointed at the end so I pushed a bit in the first week of my three week taper. Raced a half and did a 30k, not convinced it helped so don’t chase it in your taper. How far is your longest run, if your there or there abouts I think thats fine.
Thanks mate, my longest is currently 17.1 so looking to break the 20 mark before the big one.

Well chuffed today. It was D Day , if I couldn't do 20 miles due to injury I was ready to pull out. I managed to pull it off without too much discomfort . I've not managed above 13 miles as of yet in my training so I'm delighted.
I've tried everything to try and get my knee right. Ben Partrick's knee programme (building strength around the knee) has helped massively. Another one is altering my running technique with the help of a woman called Helen Hall who has you tube videos. I've been out of sync since breaking my tib/fib and ankle dislocation years ago. I was over compensating on one leg I think and not changed my style. A few small tweaks such as getting your head right, keeping it upright running tall and a light running gait not running off my heel but the mid sole and imagine I'm running on egg shells trying not to crack. Its amazing what a few small tweaks can do. I'm not out of the woods yet but I'm back on with the marathon

Great job mate, is that you that did the oundle 20? Looks like you paced it well.
Agree on the tweaks, theres lots of things that have to go well, rather than just one foot in front of the other

Thanks mate, felt pretty good at the end as well so hopefully with a bit of a taper I will be able to add another 6.2 miles on at that kind of pace.
That would be some time. Yes get a decent taper in, I know you will struggle with that.

Anyone doing Wilmslow half next week? Going to treat it as a training run rather than go full throttle. Decent course for a decent time.

Cheers Gaz. Its not me who’s done the Oundle run.
I’ve struggled with injuries since doing the last Manchester Marathon. I’ve not done any races since. It’s not been ideal prep for the Manc marathon but I’d be elated to get within 4 hours 15.
Congrats on your runs by the way, some amazing times.
