Running thread

Did that one a few weeks ago - half the people there tourists going for their I !

Happy Christmas all - anyone else going off to do a Parkrun this morning? If you are, have a good one. No attempted PB malarkey for me today, just about jogging round and wishing everyone well (and working up an appetite for later :-)

It's my local one so also do a lot of my training up there. So local in fact, that I don't have to leave home until 0850 on Parkrun days!
It does seem to attract a lot of tourists, but it's also a good one for novices, being flat & relatively straight.

Yep, agreed - I liked it - definitely PB territory - as long as you get near the front at the start!

All the best.

I finally managed to do it
I walked 365 half marathons with a calender year. 13.1 miles x 365

completed on and around 12th December.

Since my laat posting the momentum I was going at slowed down. Due to a nasty fall, which in part caused by my glucoma.

Then I got a cold, and then normal life duties got in the way.

Despite this I am very proud of myself. I've got to know Barcelona better than the locals (haha which I am most likely am these days).
I've given tips to the tour guides.

I may try again and next time do it for charity and to make awareness for glucoma. Trust me it's a shit thing to have and I would even struggle to wish it on my worsest enemy.

Happy Xmas blues.

Wow, superb effort there - very well done - that’s a lot of commitment to put it mildly.

All the best in general and specifically for coping with your glucoma.

Taking the xmas holidays to rest this hamstring tendonitis - it's definitely eased up (given I could barely walk at one stage), but twinges now and again. Will hit the gym in the meantime (rowing and swimming is helping).

Wondering if I over stretched it in Yoga (during deep lunges as that's where I first noticed the pain in my lower thigh).
I do know returning to running will be hard though....always is after a break (try a short ease in run).

Looking new running shoes. I've always worn New Balance so think will stick with them. All I see is fuel cell or fresh foam. Not sure what either would benefit me as a causal 60 year old plodder who does 40-50 miles a month. Currently wear NB 680V6 and got another 100 miles or so in them. Looking a new pair to train in as thinking might do HM around March Budget of around £100. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Well done bud

Gutted won't get over 400 as too busy today, I'll take it though as 40 more than last year. Happy new year all
