Running thread

Ran a 10k today but felt really tired at the end of it. Hard to think only 8 weeks ago I was running up to 20 miles, whivh highlights how quickly you can lose it. On a positive note after 6 weeks of physio (where not activating my glutes, resulting in weak glutes was identified as an issue) I now run and feel fatigue in my glute area. Hopefully this is a sign my form has improved and I am using my glutes now rather than putting undue stress on other parts of my body.

Morning All
13 miler yesterday to Dunham Massey before the game.
Running back I got a twig that stabbed me in the eye lol, luckily I'm OK!
I hope everyones training is going well

Off to NZ in a couple of weeks to visit my mum and I’m signed up for a 22km beach run in Auckland. I’ve had a niggly left achilles since end of last year and training has been very light but I’ve discovered that slowing my pace has finally allowed me to get some kms in and do longer runs. Did a frosty 17km this morning so I’m confident now that on the day with an old school pal and his mates I’ll be able to complete the Cargo Coastal Challenge. Relief as lack of training has worried me up to now.

4 miles before work this morning, didn't enjoy it one bit. Legs felt heavy, felt flat footed. Almost took short cut home for 5k but thought sod this I'm doing 4 if I've put all this effort in. Glad I did it once home and completely different to 4.5 miles at weekend -2 in freezing fog as I loved that.

Back in May on my birthday I weighed 17 Stone 7 pounds and decided I needed to do something as I turn 40 on my next birthday (May this year). Set myself a target of losing 40 pounds before my 40th.

Started out on the exercise bike at home and doing a lot of walking, once it started getting colder and darker in October decided i needed the gym to help keep losing the weight. So started out by running for a minute, walking for a minute on the treadmill, along the lines of couch to 5k but without using the app and slowly building it up (along with still doing the bike and other bits in the gym)

Anyway, this past Saturday i manged my first 5km run without stopping ever in about 32min (I did 5.2km in 34 mins but that includes the warm down as well) and I'm down to 14 Stone 1 pounds (So 48 pounds and still just under 4 months to go)

Never ever thought I'd either be able to run for that long or that I would actually enjoy it (well maybe not the last 1km or so!), its changed my life and I feel so much better and once the weather gets a bit better I might even venture running outside, ha!
