Running thread

I've had an injury for the last two months. Here are some recent Parkrun times that illustrate my demise.

24/09/2022 24:08 Longford Park (my best ever)
26/11/2022 27:14 Alexandra Park
28/01/2023 29:37 Alexandra Park

The run at the end of November was when I realised I couldn't run the injury off, so I've rested mainly since. Just the odd short run once a week.

So after 2 months rest, my tendonitis has finally gone. I ran 6km on Friday, then 5km on Saturday and again this morning, with no adverse reaction in my tendon.

I'm now at the stage where my legs are aching after these runs, and that's a really good feeling. I just need to build up my fitness again now, which will take some time.

Presumably these Park runs are the same distance everywhere? Obviously terrain might be slightly different but that's about a 23% increase in time. I'd say roughly mine increases about 30% maybe more. It's quite alarming. I'm quite fortunate with my genetics in regards to my build and never getting fat (despite my ridiculous appetite) but rapid loss of fitness must be my Achilles heel.

Yeah. Parkruns are every Saturday at 9am in England, and are all 5km. Check out their website. They will be one near you. https://www.parkrun.org.uk/

Sorry but it's different for everyone: we all have our own foot shape, gait etc. The only way to get the right ones is to try loads out in a shop. The best thing is to go to a specialist running shop and work with the staff who will analyse your gait to help you find the right ones for you.

I always go ASICS, never let me down

Got a mate at sports shop who gets them cheaper for me, I pay around £60-70

if your are in MCR area Try a shop like Run North west, and ask for gait analysis, depending on your weekly mileage you might need a couple of pairs ,one for easy runs and one for quicker sessions/races.
