Running thread

Did my usual midweek training run along the Irwell from Regent Road to the Victoria Warehouse and back yesterday. A bit of a detour required for a short section via Ordsall Lane due to a bit of construction work.
I'm not sure if it's the milder air temperature or that I've gained a bit of fitness, but I'm suddenly finding running much easier. A couple of weeks ago I had to keep stopping or walking to catch my breath, but seem to have no issues continuing running now.

Just had a steady 20km. Should have stayed on a flat course cos uphill for last 2 or 3 miles killed me but in glad to have banked some good distance in prep for a 22km beach run in a couple of weeks.

20 minutes of sheer hill training earlier this evening.

Up, down, up, down a **** of a hill near mine. No stopping, no breathers. HR at 160-170 the whole time.

Horrible but I felt mint after.
I used to do a bit of HT but never for 20 mins non stop! Excellent effort !!

That sounds unbelievably hard ..best I managed was short ( 30 yard) uphill sprints very steep Derbyshire hills followed by a rest on the descent ..maybe 10 in total...feel like your gonna collapse but then buzzing afterwards. Very good for 5 a side training/ explosive speed I found!

Surely interval training is better for overall performance improvements (i.e. stick a minute's rest inbetween each up/down rep)?
For me ( in my mid 50s) interval rest is a requirement not a choice
I'm literally gasping for breath inbetween each sprint, thinking I wanna stop/die/ go home on each descent.
Anyone who manages manages 20 mins non stop = Superhuman, imo
