Running thread

Been getting out a bit since new year, partly due to no football and partly for something to do whilst keeping slightly fit.

Been building up from 2k to 5k last weekend feel fine apart from the base of my back which is sometimes unbearably painful whilst mid run had to stop a couple of times (only for 10 seconds or so) to let the pain piss off then I can get going again, anyone any recommendations for a lower back support?
Genuinely, you may need to go see a podologist as a lot of lower back pain comes from the feet. I had flat feet and one leg shorter than the other, used to cause me all kinds of trouble until I had some custom built inner soles. No issues at all now.

Cheers for the replies, I've always been a fucker for not bothering to stretch properly could never be arsed when I was playing football regularly so I think ill have a go at that before I set off running from now on. Desperately trying to convince myself im not al old man when in reality I now am!!

@jay_mcfc I'll bear that in mind if the pain continues, cheers

I've run 750 days in a row, most days between 3-5 miles... i've never stretched once before setting off.

It's always the case. But rarely do you regret going for the run.
not a truer word said, I've learned to control my feelings towards running that some days will be easy some hard, but all are worth it. especially when you think the run is crap but you check your watch after and most of the time its decent

ran in the snow the other week, ran in the heavy rain last night. tempted to run to my parents today for the match

really wanna get to under 25mins for 5k. Closest ive been so far is 27.10

i cheated on a 5k once, well, i was just interested to get a fastest time... but i found a massive long stretch of road and a downhill that goes on nearly a mile - did it in 22:55

my parkrun record is 23:26

There’s a road near Hollingworth lake that we cycle up, it’s the longest continuous climb in England (Cragg Vale) and it’s 9k long, been tempted a few times to drive there and just run down it and see what I’d get as a 5k or even 10k time!! Problem would be getting back to the car lol.

How often do people wash their running shoes?

I do it once a week if it has been dry, and after every run if wet etc.
I give them a quick scrub in the kitchen sink. Rinse, then put them on a radiator.
I don't have smelly feet, but just like to keep them looking good etc.

Anyone got a freetrain running vest ?
I ordered one last week and it’s arrived today- heard good things.

That the one for storing your phone etc? I’ve got one and it’s handy but just never used it that often. Don’t take much stuff with me.

interested in this too. I use a arm sleeve currently but it pisses me off
Think you were replying to this one mate... they’re ok if you think you’ll use it enough, arm sleeves are a nuisance tbh.
