Running thread

Took two days off as I had run 6/7 days on the spin and noticed my times had gone south.

Besides the Ice its absolutely great running at this time of year. Great to see so many runners out and about also, definitely more than normal which is great to see.

A great shame no half or marathons will be allowed this year again.
Another thing they have banned us from.
Apply a little objective, critical thinking about the reasons why we have been banned. If you're not capable of doing so, ask someone with more intelligence than you to spell it out for you.

115,000 dead and counting. And it would have been much, much higher if 'they' hadn't 'banned us' from things. Idiot.

Absolutely gutted, been looking to day off. Nice long run as not been out since Saturday. On furlough up early, breakfast, stretches, navigate frozen path to main road. Nice gentle pace, aiming to beat my longest run of 8 miles and felt my left calf ping like bit of elastic. No reason to, not icy on that stretch, not pushing it.

Get off your high horse.

Just because of thousands have people have died doesn't mean that someone can't miss a hobby etc. We all have our own struggles. Some bigger than others.

Idiot.

Ouch. Does it completely wipe you out the game ? Can you run through it at all ?

Beautiful morning today, cold but perfect for a decent run. Managed 10k before work and did a steady for me forst 5k in 28minutes and then pushed the second 5k in 25:30 and actually felt really good and some left in the tank.

Feeling the benefit now of pushing myself to get out over the last few weeks when its been cold which is always when i struggle. Great getting an early run done and can just enjoy the day without worrying about putting my run off.

Got some new trainers as well and they definitely help as it doesn't feel like im running bare foot on the pavement now.

Anyone any good apps that let you set challenges as you run? Seen a few people complete say a virtual pennine way, or a lands end to john o groats type thing that shows your progress after each run. Seems a good way of finding a bit of extra motivation.

They have some good ones on this site mate, comes with an app and whatnot, £35 seems a bit steep at first but if you think about it you get a medal, and will probably be using it quite a bit to get the medal, seems to be a good enough motivator if thats what your after.

??? But that's exactly what it means. People have died because of those hobbies. It really isn't complicated. I will happily refrain from participating in mass events if that saves people's lives.

I'm really struggling with your 'Just because thousands of people have died...' comment. An incredible example of the attitudes that some people have.

"My hobby is more important than thousands of people's lives."

Gave up and walked mile and half back home as didn't want to make any worse. Just did a 5 mile walk had planned today anyway to collect BP tablets from chemist. Felt little tight but not much pain

People have died because of people running ? Stop talking shite and get off your moral pedestal

Numbnuts he means if we had mass events!! Like parkrun to marathons.... too many people mingling and traveling to them would cause further deaths!! It’s not too difficult to grasp surely?

Look, we were talking about BLUEMATT23's post about being banned from halves and marathons.

I'm sure everyone is willing to listen to your opinion but it would be wise to read the actual context of the discussion before commenting, especially if you're going to call someone an idiot. Otherwise, you end up looking like an, well...

If you think mass-participation events are OK, despite it being clear that they will spread the virus, then that's up to you I guess.

If you choose to equate the promotion of simple actions that will avoid thousands of deaths to being on a moral pedestal, then so be it.

Just done a 10k along the seafront running from Bournemouth up to Sandbanks (No I did not see Harry) and back.

Felt great going out, nice and bouncy on my feet and noted a decent breeze behind me. Turned round and that decent breeze was more like a gale and the last 4.5k was a real struggle being battered by the wind, sand being blown up in my face and struggling for breath.

Finished in 47:42, last 5 a bit slower but feeling as rough as toast now.
