Running thread

Trust me, I speak from experience, I wouldn't risk it mate as much as you'd like to. I lost 2 years running by pushing too far.
Think everyone is assuming it’s seriously injured. It’s been a bit tight and probably because I’d gone out too soon after the 55 mile bike ride, was a bit fatigued, set off too quick and it tightened up. Feels much better today and I’ve no doubt by Wednesday I’ll be ok to do a 10k followed by the hm on Sunday.

Chrissake mate, can you not just listen the Internet, face it your fucked, probably needs amputation,

I’ve made a decision to give this running lark a go. It’s fair to say lockdown has been less than kind to my general health and fitness! Where’s the best place to get decent quality running gear for a good price?

amazon i pretty much get all my gear

Asics i stick to for trainers

I hope your training for the BMVHM is going well folks. I struggled with a 10k a week ago. I've since knuckled down, shed 8 pounds, slowed my pace, and I comfortably managed 14k this evening. My average heart rate was 143 today, compared to 152 a week ago.

I averaged 7 minutes per kilometer today. Maybe it won't be enough to gain me a podium place, but I am confident I'll be able to complete the distance. For me, this won't be a race against you guys, but a tough personal challenge to complete the distance.

That is superb mate. Hopefully working a little less harder will make you enjoy the runs even more.

As it should be mate! We're not really racing against each other as racing against ourselves.

Although if I'm not in the top 5 you can all fuck off.

www.sportsshoes.com often have good prices on trainers but it's also a good idea to search Google's 'shopping' option then order results by price. I recently did this and got a very good price on the latest version of the Asics GT2000 (sent over from Denmark but arrived quickly).

So the day has come for my first attempt at a half marathon , was told to take a couple of Jaffa cakes and a banana , and eat one every 5 km

And that’s exactly how it should be mate. You against you and no one else. Finishing and distance is the first and foremost achievement. Beating your own times are for personal pride, beating others is just for ego and is the last thing running is about, especially amongst us, we’re not professional athletes.
Any 5k to a full marathon you all get the same medal, first or last.
Good luck with it.
