Hope you have a quick recovery.Got some new running shoes a couple of weeks ago, went for a short run on my lunch break last Wednesday, rolled my ankle after 1km!
Swelling has been pretty bad, along with the bruising, and still looks a mess 9 days later. Pain suddenly increased last couple of days so went A&E yesterday and turns out I have a small avulsion fracture of the fibula. 6 weeks recovery apparently.
Oh well, feet up watching football and eating chocolate all weekend!

I was going to say that it's probably the effect of the mountains but Cartmel isn't in the Lakes. Are you planning to venture into the north Lakes? It could be worth testing it among the fells.I'm on a short break in the Lake District, and did this 6.5km run yesterday in the evening sunshine. Lovely scenery, and an enjoyable run, even with that long uphill section.
However, my Garmin watch has messed up the lap markers on my run. The 2km mark is under the 3. The 4km mark is under the 5. The 1km mark is at the start and end, and it's missed out the 6km altogether.
Is this something I should report to Garmin, or should I see how my next few runs turn out? This is my second run with a new watch. I had no problems with the Garmin watch it replaced, and the first run with it was ok.![]()
I've done the same run in reverse direction this evening. Same result. I think I'll report to Garmin as a fault.I was going to say that it's probably the effect of the mountains but Cartmel isn't in the Lakes. Are you planning to venture into the north Lakes? Great going Gaz, I can only dream of such times. Still trying to get back to some sort of normal after Covid, slowly getting better each time.Kind of gone off the boil lately this thread, which is a shame as it was a great inspiration to me when I first started out.
Done both a 5k and 10k pb this weekend, parkrun yesterday 17.34 and 10k at Alderley edge bypass this morning 37.55 which was crazy as I was running empty big style, busy day yesterday took the kids out and only had a plate of chips all day, and then watched the mighty blues with a pile of cans, spent the last six miles of the 10k wanting to throw up!!
Thanks bud, can only say give it time with the covid recovery, it took me a few months to get back going, and a few I speak to at races that have had it all tell a similiar story.Great going Gaz, I can only dream of such times. Blimey. Some great time there Gaz. Well done. You are steadily smashing all my PBs. I think the only one remaining could be the 10K by a measly 3 seconds. I'm expecting that one to go soon enough though !!!Kind of gone off the boil lately this thread, which is a shame as it was a great inspiration to me when I first started out.

Top man TCP, there's a target for me!! Although infairness I bet you did all your PBs in trainers that didn't blast you along like these supershoes do nowadaysBlimey. Some great time there Gaz. Hi mate - I’ve just been tested positive for covid - a mate told me it can take runners a while to get back to usual form ? In terms of distance I ran by furthest last Saturday so it’s really fitting if true …Great going Gaz, I can only dream of such times. I don't think there is a fixed set of symptoms, or a standard recovery pattern from Covid. I caught it in February. Had mild flu symptoms without a temperature for about three days, and ran again after about a week.Hi mate - I’ve just been tested positive for covid - a mate told me it can take runners a while to get back to usual form ? The thread has quietened down. Hopefully it will pick up again as running season ramps up. This thread had been a great encouragement to me as I started running about four years ago. I'm indebted to you guys for helping me complete my first marathon last year, aged 60.Kind of gone off the boil lately this thread, which is a shame as it was a great inspiration to me when I first started out.
