Running thread

been historically going with Adidas, then a few years ago realised they were pants.

Went wiht a number of Nike trainrers, include road and trail Pegasus. Still got my road Pegasus trainers as i ran my fastest ever 10k race wearing them.

However, since getting covid, and having numerous niggles a few years back, I have had several Hoka trainers including the Rincon 2 and 3, along with the Clifton trainer.

Last year I purchased some New Balance Fresh Foam X 880v12 GORE-TEX trainers, been great wearing them continuously.

I did get the Hoka Rincon 4's last week, ran in them once at the weekend and feel quite nice.
Seriously try the Boston 12s I really really rate them

That's the fella. The chaps in there always seem really proactive and friendly.

yeah they are really good in there.

But always feel bad spending money online rather than in branch.

Would you really recommend them? Just for longer runs? don't want to splash more money again on trainers ha

I use them for everything from speed work, 5ks and my long distance (the version 13 is coming out soon so you may be able to bag a bargain). Also I recommend having at least 2 pairs in rotation, it elongates their lif

I think it's an age thing. As you get older, running becomes much more for fitness and enjoyment, and less competitive. After recent injuries (notably an ongoing hip problem) I'm just happy to be out there, enjoying the beautiful scenery, getting very tired legs, and aching for the rest of the day.

12km starting at 7am today, from Keswick to Threlkeld, then back via Castlerigg Stone Circle. 5km of it was beside the fast flowing River Greta. On return, there were views of Catbells and other distant fells. An absolutely stunning run, and the slow pace allowed me to enjoy the scenery for much longer.
I lived there in the 90s. So nice to hear those place names again

9.75 miles today. Ran down the front at Southport with the 10k runners heading in the opposite direction (the leader was heading for 30 min by the looks of it). It was great to see so many people out and no issues, especially in the current climate. Next weekend I will break the 10 mile marker for the first time in over 12 months. Looking at 1hr 20 or so so that’s getting back to my half marathon pace.
Anyway happy Sunday Blues

Completed my 100th Parkrun this morning at Peel Park in 29:45.
Not too bad considering I only started Couch to 5k in February 2022, and before that hadn't run for 35 years.
At least it proves that if an overweight retired bloke can do it, anyone can!
Well done @staffsblue. Great achievement and an inspirational story. It shows what you can do, with perseverance and self-belief.
