Running is so hard on the body. Knees and shins in particular. And arches too.
As a 60+ year old, I'm simply walking now when I can't...
Swim. Swimming is awesome. No stress on the body and even more cardo.
I do both. I generally swim twice a week and run three times a week with two recovery days built into each week.
I used to find the running hard on my knees, but my stretching routine before and after runs seems to have sorted that out
The swimming definitely burns more calories but the running is more of a mental strength activity. I actually enjoy doing both for different reasons.
