Running thread

Parkrun done, 22:17 unofficially, 40 seconds faster than last week, felt good all the way around (well as good as 192bpm average can feel), no niggles which is great.

Actually ran 70 metres more, so hit 5k at 21:55, all in all happy with that.

Off the booze this month, so hoping to get mojo back for running which I’ll do every day

Conditions up here were pretty much perfect, mild temperature about 11 degrees and not a drop of rain in the sky.

On the booze, I had a night off from it last night, taxiing the missus, slept great, felt great, does make a difference.
 
This morning's Isabel Trail Parkrun completed in 29:25.
My first sub-30 minutes for a few weeks so must have finally thrown off the after effects of my man flu!
Well done mate, doing everything I can to avoid the flu this year, not in the office often, multivitamins, tablets for other things like omega 3's, sleep, trialling some juice shots.

Caught it twice last year and messed my fitness right up.

I usually manage to dodge everything out there, but had a weird turn involving fevers about 4 weeks ago after attending a wedding in Horwich.
Must have strange diseases up that way that my body can't handle!

I run every morning before work, I find that if you can keep active then the body just adapts and you don't get tired, I started a new job 18months ago where I'm not as active as before and it does tire you out, but I find doing something (another run!) at dinner knocks the tiredness out of you
Certainly concur with this. In my prime I would typically cycle 14 miles to work at 6 am, do a 5 mile run at lunchtime and then cycle 14 miles home again at 5pm. I has an office job though but bizarrely found it more tiring sat at the pc than being active!

These days I don't run and cycle on the same day. So it's just the 100+ miles a week cycle commuting in 4 days. But I have to set off at 5.30 am now as I'm slowing down a bit in my old age. :-)
 
Half marathon today in 1:28:16 two weeks after completing the Marathon.

Like an idiot I drove straight home after the marathon, which was a 2 hour drive, consequently suffered with my IT band ever since.

Was ok today until the last 5/6 km so managed to plough on through. Last race next week for the year. Bit of downtime, focus on mobility and weights for a month or so and then build myself back up for next year. Been a great year of running this year, loved every minute of it.
