Haha. I'd subscribe! A lot of them need calling out.
They really do mate, it's all just freebies galore, I do follow edd bud who seems to be pretty genuine and he does make a point of saying that he paid for them himself or was sent a pair for an honest review, but I also know that he got an all expenses paid trip to Boston off puma

Yeah, I do like Edd. A bit closer to my running level so I get more from his reviews than someone running a 2:20 marathon and showing me how he makes his coffee before every run! (Not naming any names)

Haha I shall keep my making of a brew off the YouTube then!!

This week's plonker of the week surely has to go to Joe wicks, have you seen him going on about people slowing down in running, basically it took him six hours I think to do the London marathon, and is claiming it more fun and inclusive if people just walk a bit......man's a fucking idiot, most folk train for months, years even to be able to run a marathon, that's the whole point, not just some gobshite taking up a place and saying let's change it so I can feel included

Fortunately I hadn't seen that but you're spot on. Nothing against people going out and challenging themselves in a group and having fun but the London marathon isn't the place to be doing that. You'd be gutted if you'd tried and failed to get in year after year to then see some knob stopping to have a chat and getting the crowd going all for the cameras.

How did you get on with the Peg Trails? I loved the Pegasus 36 Trail but wasn't as keen on the Pegasus Trail 4.

I've got a 100km event in the Peak District at the end of June and I have no idea what I'm going to wear. It's going to be more of a jog/hike/crawl so I want something cushioned. Won't be the most technical of trails and, depending on the weather, should be quite a dry route with some pebbled paths so don't need massive lugs.

I've been looking at the Hoka Speedgoats and Kilian Jornet's Nnormal brand amongst others but there are so many options out there!

Had a mare with my shoe choice, did the first 32mile in puma deviate nitro elite 3 which was all gravy, got the Mrs to meet me at mile 32 with a pair of metaspeeds that I hadn't used for ages, fucked if I know why I thought that would be a good idea, it wasn't, ran about 200m and realised my error, was in 20th position at that stage, last 18 miles were a lot tougher than they could have been.
What's the peg trails like nowadays? I was a big fan of the early ones but they seemed to go a bit shit after them

It’s a bit of a mixed bag with the Peg 4s.

As Gaz alluded to, In another post, as the trails are pretty firm currently I went with the Peg 4s for a trail race half, but felt a bit beaten up later.

I run a lot of daily miles, round my local woods, country parks and upto 16k I think they are great and really enjoy the responsiveness as they are pretty light so even great for sprints/intervals etc.

However over a half marathon I seem to be developing a few blisters on the side of the foot, end of my toe so I think they must run a bit tight. Never had this problem before with Nikes and I have two pairs of the Pegs and the same problem with both.

Still trying to find the right shoe. Next purchase will be the Hoka Texton X as I thought the earlier iteration was a great show.

Thanks mate, I'm half considering launching a YouTube channel reviewing shoes, but think I would probably be banned for swearing and calling the rest of the shoetubers lying cunts
Can you make a youtube channel and review cheap running trainers and say they are amazing. Might save me a few quid on my son who is bloody obsessed with running shoes and the carbon plated expensive things. I thought when he got into athletics it would be a nice cheap sport, how wrong i was.

What's the point in watching other people's reviews of shoes? Fit is such a personal thing that what is a great shoe for one person might be a nightmare for someone else. I've used the same make and model of shoe for the last 10 years because they work for me. I just get a new pair every 500 miles.

Ahh, you've got the 4s too. I've got nearly 700km in mine and they've been alright but nowhere near as good as the Pegasus 36 trail. I've taken the 4s up to 25km a few times and you're right about the blisters so I think a half marathon is probably the limit.

The 5s have got really good reviews (Edd Bud at least) but I think 100km in them might be pushing it. The Texton X look interesting so I'll take a look at those.

Cheers

The fives are currently on sports pursuit for 70 odd quid in various colours

Signed up for the Great Manchester 10k run on 18 May.

Is anyone else planning on running in it ?

Enjoy mate, it gets a decent crowd and a great atmosphere, even if running to old scaffold and back is a bit shit!!
I was going to do the double(the half first then the 10k) but the half has sold out, so going to save the dosh for something else.
There's always loads of races coming up, try this site if you have the bug

Peel Parkrun completed in 30:19 this morning. I was taking it steady as I don't do warm weather, but there was also a queue to enter the finish funnel. Seems loads of participants were more interested in being hypnotised by their phones rather than move down the funnel, but seems to be more a societal than just a running issue.
I tried Peel this morning for the first time. Good course and enjoyed it. As you, I got impact at the finish funnel and also the first bend due to volume of runners.

The timing was around minute out to the time given as 32mins. The quickest parkrun for me since Feb 20 looking at the results log.

I always wince when I read stuff like.this. ..mobile phones and running surely ..don't go together

So... I took my phone out with me when running this weekend to make my latest video (sorry mate!).

As the temperature increases, this has a huge impact on the whole experience of running, and we have to adapt our approach. I thought I'd make a vid with some thoughts based on my experience running in warm/hot weather.

I made a few points about how to cope in the conditions, but also the opportunities that it creates and how to capitalise on those... whilst also noting some of the risks that also present themselves.

Ended up going with the Nike Zegama 2s that arrived today. Just taken them out for a spin and very good first impressions. Lot of bounce in the zoomx midsole but nice and grippy with the vibram rubber.

I'll be using these for the Peak District Ultra Challenge (100km) at the end of June. I'm doing this to raise money for Tiny Tickers, a charity that helps babies with congenital heart disease, in memory of my little boy, Teo, who we lost 2 years ago this month.

If any of you would like to donate and support this amazing charity, you can do so on my JustGiving page here.

Many thanks
