Running thread

I've been a naughty boy.

I keep missing my strength & conditioning workouts. Sometimes with good reason (busy days with no time available; hospital appointments etc.). On other days, I just feel too knackered or lazy.

Need to get back on it.

No such thing as a bad workout mate, so just show up and do something, no doubt you'll feel better for it.

Pardon the pun, but it's a marathon not a sprint.

Out incredibly early for me this morning (6.30am!), whilst it was fairly quiet

Nice comfortable jogging pace for 13k in just under 1 hrs 16 minutes, really enjoying just coasting around at the moment regardless of the distance

Really finding that the further I run the more I enjoy it, I'm really not built for a 5k as I tend to treat it as a fast paced run, which I don't think I'm built for!

Great work! Definitely the best time of day for it if you can do it.

Sad ba****d here loving early morning runs in the bliss of the Paphos sunrise . Anyone else love a good run whilst being abroad ?
Yep, take my running gear on most holidays, in India a few years back and was out every other morning, running along the beach watching the little fishing boats coming back in was great.

I rarely take my running gear and every holiday I say I will. Enjoy your running and your holiday mate

Shame to hear the Parkruns are getting complaints. They are brilliant events and I've never seen any of the issues at the ones I've done. The Oldham one is brilliant - very friendly, good fun and decent people. Alexandra Park is great and really well kept.

I'm done a few 10k races now and really enjoying it. I have a half marathon booked next year and doing 13k runs now with plenty still in the tank but don't want to push it too hard.

Saucony trainers are good and I'd recommend them. Not cheap but very good and I've found NB and Karhu are solid as well.

That's a healthy approach, fella. If you want to increase the distance or intensity, the gradual approach is definitely the best. Also, factor in recovery weeks so that your bodily systems can make adaptations and you can recover from the hard work.

Are you too soft to go out running in the storm?

Just managed to squeeze a 5k in on my lunch before the brunt of the weather hit, but still got absolutely soaked and felt like I was running in a constant headwind

Tbf, being a fairly new runner, I've not really ran in autumn/winter season, so at least its preparing me for the next few months!
