Thanks I need the encouragement, only started 13 weeks ago after 50 years of sedentary lifestyle36.14 is still fucking awesome at your age mate
Your doing great mate, do take it easy though and don't try for a pb everytime, can't rush this game, trust me I've tried,Thanks I need the encouragement, only started 13 weeks ago after 50 years of sedentary lifestyle
Started with C25K and now do 3 @ 5K a week with 2 rest days in between, not particularly looking for time, more than upping my distance once I feel comfortableYour doing great mate, do take it easy though and don't try for a pb everytime, can't rush this game, trust me I've tried,
Tapering is a pain in the arse, and something I've never once done and thought yep I feel great for doing that.On a taper for Knutsford 10k on Sunday, always annoying running less than you want to.
Still going to throw my track session in this week though and a couple of easy shorter runs.
Yeah, always feels hit and miss to me.Tapering is a pain in the arse, and something I've never once done and thought yep I feel great for doing that.
I did read that tapering can be done two ways, either by decreasing your mileage but keeping the intensity or the other way round which makes more sense to me, keep your mileage and decrease the intensity
Cheers Staffs, I actually had a banana before I set off. I’m hoping it will be ok for Saturdays park run.Take it easy, mate!
I've had a few calf cramps swimming recently, and a few calf twinges while running.
I understand it can be caused by low magnesium levels, so I've upped my banana consumption!
I'm actually quite enjoying being in a running club. It's not at my usual time of day for running, plus I'm not the most chatty person, but I'm finding it to be quite good fun. I think it's testament to the general running community which tends to be very friendly, welcoming and supportive.
Are you allowed to exercise at all mate?Having some floating bone removed from my ankle in a week, going to be at least 6 weeks recovery, I am going to go stir crazy not being able to run!
Walking I think and the physio exercises. Will swim but will have to wait till the wound heals I thinkAre you allowed to exercise at all mate?
Calves are buggers! Have a look online for stretches and exercises to strengthen them. Last time I had a calf strain it would appear ok so I would try running again only for it to "go" again after a mile or so. So went to a physio and he gave me some different stretches and exercises and that seems to have done the trickI’m off work this week so thought I’d have a go at Marple park run on my own this morning. Managed to run 28:48, my best time yet, but tweaked my right calf near the end, and am now limping around the house.
Berlin and Sydney ballots have both opened this week mate, although I've never once gotten into a major through a ballot!!Anyone see the Boston Q's come out, so they lowered all the GFA times by 5 mins and you still need to be 4:54 under. So that's sub 2:50 for me pretty much.
The majors are just massively oversubscribed at the moment and with the help of nutrition, super shoes and god knows what else, people are flying around a marathon now.
Not too bothered at the moment as I said I wont enter a major until I get a qualifying time and I'm not focusing on it atm but who knows what time that will be when I decide to try for it.
Speedy recovery mateHaving some floating bone removed from my ankle in a week, going to be at least 6 weeks recovery, I am going to go stir crazy not being able to run!
