Running thread

Just over 20:05ish at Peel.

Felt a bit off for about 14 days, hoping it's just the volume of training and the taper will help with Knutsford next weekend.
That’s a mint time though. Respect. Bit slippy down by the river this morning. Big mud patches on the path. Football pitch wet too. That’s why I’m well chuffed with my time as running in the wet has to be harder. Or is that not so?

Definitely harder. My pro 3's couldnt grip on that grass part, essentially a slow jog praying you dont slip on that.

Is it just me or is it suddenly a lot darker? Anyone going out for early morning or late evening runs when it's dark?
Wouldn't catch me going out in the dark mate

Jokes aside, running in the dark cold mornings is ace, my training always goes to pot when it's warm and bright in the mornings, give me a freezing cold, dark, headtorch on run and I will run all day,

Not sure my version of early is the same as yours, but I've been out just before 7am a few times in the last couple of weeks

Normally get up at 6, and it's been fairly dark, but think it's going to get worse in the next month or so

Don't really tend to go out much in the evening, try and do mornings or lunch in the week, and likely be about 10am over the weekend

Definitely need to invest in a good waterproof jacket though!

I thought exactly the same this week - said to my daughter whilst out running, are the lamp posts dimmer. That was around 8pm timewise.

Yeah, I prefer mornings as well. It gets darker by about 2 minutes every day apparently.

I've been thinking about warm-ups before runs cos they're actually really important but for a long time I wasn't really doing them as I should. I know I've been injured after not warming up properly.

So I've been making an effort to do them recently and thought I'd chuck together a vid on the best ones while I was at it. Hopefully it's useful to someone out there... At the very least, it'll be a reminder to me!

Gutted I didn't get a spot in the GNR, does anyone know if basically buying a membership if the only other way to do it (don't fancy doing the sponsorship route)?

I love running in the rain and did a 15k yesterday but can feel it a bit today!

10km this morning. Only my second ever and first one since June 2016! A good 8 minutes slower than the first one coming in at 1hr 1min 18seconds. Trying desperately to lose a further 2.8 pounds in weight by 3 October which will mean I’d have lost a stone in weight and hit my target before heading off to Spain on my road cycling holiday. All based around a 60 day training camp of running, indoor cycling (Zwift) and cycle commuting. Really enjoying the running aspect and this thread has been a big inspiration and help for me. Going to continue with the running now for as long as my body allows it. There’s so many benefits. Thanks a lot to you all for the inspiration and the motivation.
Up the Blues!

Outside of sponsorship and pot luck, the only other way is to qualify on time.

Have to be pretty rapid though.

Wish they offered good for age times like the major marathons, but they dont yet.
