It’s brilliant mate isn’t it? And makes the rest of your Saturday feel great :-)Marple Park Run cancelled yesterday, but I turned up and ran it anyway. The winter course is usually quite muddy and slippy, but the mud had all frozen. Ran 29:35, hoping I can stay under 30 minutes all this year. Only started Couch to 5k last spring and now really look forward to Saturday mornings, it’s great for my fitness and mental health.
I have a friend, good runner, who has warned me about Lyme Park! Must admit although my flat running is really coming on, I’m still rubbish when it comes to hills. It’s brilliant mate isn’t it? And makes the rest of your Saturday feel great :-)
Saturday was always my favourite day of the week for many reasons, but now even more so.
Yep, done Marple a few times, enjoy it. Have you tried Lyme Park yet? The opening is er, interesting!
In that case stick to flat - still get all the benefits :-)I have a friend, good runner, who has warned me about Lyme Park! Must admit although my flat running is really coming on, I’m still rubbish when it comes to hills.

How's everyone getting on in 2026 so far? Having recently stepped down from my job, I'm able to put more time into the running so I'm hopeful for a good year. However, I'm kicking things off from a low starting point due to being out with an injury so will need to be patient.
I'd like to have some events to aim for: probably one marathon and a few halves. I'm in rural Cumbria where (possibly) the flattest marathon in the UK literally goes past my front door so I should probably do that in June.
Not sure about what else. Possibly some trail events in the Lake District later in the year but we'll see how the training goes.
Sounds like your well in it mate, weight is a big factor 10kg is about how much heavier I am now than 18 months ago and it makes a massive difference.I'm starting this year 10kg lighter than I was last Jan, and in a much better place fitness wise.
I've been offered a Manchester marathon place for April, so need to decide ASAP if I want to do it. Not done a marathon yet, but feel I could give it a decent go.
Going to sign up for the Tour of Tameside in June, and if I can get a place, there is a Disney HM on in October when i'm there on holiday so fancy doing that.
See above mate, I'm taking a break from running(and all social media apart from here) need to let my body recover a bitGaz, have you stopped using Strava? Haven't seen your runs on there for a while.
Been in awful place in last 6 weeks or so. Managed to get out yesterday for 2.4 miles at lunchtime. In last 6 weeks moved father in law into a care home, cleared out his flat ready to be put up for sale. In between that (2nd Jan) his wife passed away (was expected) in the same care home he's gone into. Been helping organise funeral whilst being there for him and my other half. Yesterday's short run in pouring rain was so much for me mentally than physicallyHow's everyone getting on in 2026 so far?
