Russian invasion of Ukraine

Big moment for Germany with vote from the Bundestag - kick in the bollocks to putins plans, although I doubt the twat has any bollocks based upon his policy of targeting the elderley and infants.

So, you're happy for the bully to do as he wishes, when he wishes.

You appear to have convinced yourself that the only way to stop the bully is by worldwide nuclear obliteration.

Give in to Putin now and the peaceful, democratic world is lost.
Just to be clear. When you wrote "Giving in to Putin's illegal and cowardly demands would be the worst thing to do" you were responding to an article which said defending Ukraine by destroying it would be bad, and that one alternative was WW3 and nuclear armageddon. Now to me, that sounds like worse than giving in.

A few domestic issues..... Beggers belief that anyone could think that. I'll take it you're not one of the ones sat freezing or one of the ones without food on the table. I'll take it you have a roof over your head.
This issues will get substantially worse over the next 12 - 24 months as the cost of living reaches unprecidented levels.

And yet this government spend more money on foreign aid than they do tackling these huge huge issues at home.
Too long have we turned a blind eye or made token gestures to tackling these issues.

Did you know we spend in excess of £55m pa just on security for asylum seaker hotels - just for the security.
That's before you get to heating, food, lighting and other utilities.
The amount of money we could be helping our own with first and foremost is well beyond what any other countries provide - hence why these people travel across several other countries to get to the UK.

And so back to Ukraine... Clearly I think what has happened is horrendous and clearly I think we should be supporting them but id also like to see other countries contributing an amount per capita because right now we are a small island and yet, at a cost to our own, we contribute substantially more than most other countries.
I certainly don't want our soldiers to actually fight in this war either despite loathing Putin.
A nationalist socialist speaks. The idea of socialism is that the better off help the less well off to create a better society. However the nationalist part is as long as they are part of the UK.
Ukrainians are being murdered , raped , made homeless etc etc but fuck them. What a despicable attitude to have. We have a moral responsibility to help the Ukrainians. Why? Quite simply because we are human

I agree with this.

Some people struggling to heat their homes or put food on the table vs people in hiding or running for their lives whilst bombs rain down around them (plus the threat of indiscriminate violence and murder by ill-disciplined troops on the ground).

Just because they live on the other side of some arbitrary border, it shouldn't make a difference.

9/11 and what followed seemed like it would be the biggest problem of the 21st century until the pandemic happened. Now it seems we have something much worse to deal with, but standing up to Putin is really the only remotely sensible option here.

Just to be clear, let's try your logic.

1) Some footballers have heart attacks and collapse or die when playing.
2) Kevin de Bryune is a footballer.
3) We should never pick him because he might die and that's worse than losing a game of football.

By your logic we should just agree to anything Putin ever demands, because the alternative is always nuclear armaggedon.

I see Russia is cutting off gas supplies to EU countries. Two have refused to pay in Roubles but 2 Slovakia and Hungry are paying in Roubles.
Last attempt by Putin to try and split the West I think.
German energy co paying in roubles.

German energy co paying in roubles.
Bbc say other countries are going to do the same.
Apparently set up a bank account with Gazprom in both,Roubles and foreign currency, you pay in your countries currency and it gets converted into Roubles......Germany say it's not breaking sanctions.
Uniper have said Germany can't get by without Russian gas.
Putin now has them by the balls with that statement.
