Russians buried 16,000 Mariupol residents in mass graves since April: Mayor​

The Ukrainian mayor of the now Russian-controlled city of Mariupol has said that since mid-April, Russian occupiers have buried at least 16,000 city residents in mass graves near the villages of Staryi Krym, Manhush and Vynohradne.

Vadym Boychenko also said on Telegram that 25 new trench areas had appeared at the Staryi Krym cemetery in the past month. He said the bodies had been placed in the trenches in layers, and then “masked” with plates as individual burial sites.

“We estimated the death toll at 22,000 people in Mariupol. But more and more facts show that the consequences of the Rashist crime are much worse. This and the dire state of the local population under occupation need special attention of the global community,” Boychenko said.

He said thousands of bodies still remained under rubble, in natural cemeteries and in temporary mortuaries.

the good news is a three pronged Ukrainian counter offensive is beginning near Kherson.

Excellent site and blog with in depth sources of information. Interesting snippits further down todays brief concerning the much needed M270 and M142 missile launchers that can fire more per hour than the slower russian systems that take 20 minutes to reload the Uragan and 40 minutes for the Smerch.

The M142 and M270A1 need only one minute to stop set up and fire the missiles as the drone spots a russian target then sends GPS coordinates to the M142 .. gunner enters GPS coordinates into the UFCS and launched missiles then moves on.

Its an interesting read if you have the time and with ukranines possible aquisition of these launchers would defenitly change the dynamic of the war. Been using Al Jazera alongside a few others for my daily fix, but will certainly include the daily Kos from now so thanks for the heads up.

It’s approximately 3,000 kilometers (1,860 miles) from Severodonetsk to Glasgow.

As Russian pressure increases in the strategic eastern Ukraine city, an international football match in the Scottish city would seem somewhat irrelevant.

Ukrainian Taras Berezovets, who worked as a political analyst before the Russian invasion started on Feb. 24 but has since joined Ukraine’s special forces, would disagree.

Like many other of his "brothers in arms" – given football has always been the number one sport in Ukraine – Berezovets will be doing his best to keep across developments in his country’s World Cup playoff against Scotland on Wednesday.

If Ukraine does get past Scotland at Hampden Park and then beats Wales in Cardiff on Sunday, the country will have remarkably secured qualification for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Berezovets says fighters are keen to find a broadcast of the match. But even if watching is impossible for those on the front line, he says those fighting will still gather together and listen on the radio if they can.

Ukraine has been asking for weapons that have a range of 100-140km.
The US have confirmed they are sending the HIMARS.
HIMARS can fire to a range of 300km with certain munitions,the munitions the US are sending have a range of 80km.......what's the point in that?
