Nothing shocks or offends me. I can take seeing dead bodies or extremely wounded bodies. I’m not squeamish at all.

Don’t know why I’m like that. Whether it’s just seeing so much gory stuff on the internet over the years that you just become desensitised. I’ve seen a video of a lad who committed suicide in India after he jumped off a water storage tank about 60feet up and the video shows what state he was in afterwards, another was a video of a woman who had a freight container fall and land on her legs with someone coming over to video her… as awful as you could imagine, but I’m one of those who was trying to zoom in and see more closely.

The only thing that’s ever come close to making me look away was Two Girls One Cup.

I went through a phase of this. I too am desensitised to pretty much anything. I call it reality.

I don't recall the French thinking they had better start calling London, London - and not Londres. Or England, England and not Angleterre. Or us deciding that Naples really should be called Napoli, etc etc etc etc etc.

You tell yourself that a nuclear conflict or that WW3 would simply never ever happen but then you realise you are dealing with a completely unhinged and deranged war criminal in Putin and you just think, fuck!

A lot of the anti-Putin voices (generally younger, university educated) fucked off at their first opportunity. They are pretty much the backbone of the German tech industry and it's becoming a similar story in the UK and US.

The amount of young, Russian professionals I met when I was based in Berlin was a real eye opener. And every single one of them hated Putin, but had made a nice a nice, cushy life for themselves. It's become a real 'I'm alright, Jack' situation.

I suspect anyone who's anti-Putin and has the means will fuck off out of the country before they stay at home and rise up.
