Russian invasion of Ukraine

Harsh on Gordon Brown - He deserves massive credit and recognition for his endeavours and expertise during the global financial crisis, every G7 leader was stumped as to what to do and to his credit he synchronised a truly global response to avert certain catastrophe to the way we all live in the west - very rare that you will see the Americans pass the baton to a foreign leader on such an issue of global importance and his handling of the crisis is still a go to in economic journals and study courses.

He had zero charisma and looked like a fish out of water away from his area of expertise, but hey, I think we've all learned from prominent leaders around the world in the last 5 years how far being a showman and a populist gets your average man on the street -

So good to have someone like Zelensky on the political stage now - smart, works hard, seems sincere and has a pair of balls and I believe (assuming he's not assassinated) he can do wonders for a post war Ukraine as they did have serious problems with corruption before this all kicked off which need to be addressed for it to become a dynamic economy where all the citizens of Ukraine can benefit on a financial and social level and live in freedom.
Gordon certainly pissed of Iceland (not the retailer). I circumnavigated the island that summer and he was lampooned via a popular T-shirt which read "Brown is the colour of shit".

The Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant in Ukraine has been disconnected from the national power supply, the state energy operator said.
Fires broke out in the ash pits of a coal plant located near the Zaporizhzhia plant and damaged the power lines connecting it to Ukraine's grid, Energoatom said.

Vladimir Putin has ordered Russia's military to expand with another 137,000 personnel starting from next year.

The announcement by the Russian president came a day after Moscow's invasion of Ukraine reached its six-month mark.
I assume he's planning to keep numbers consistent with current levels. He has done the maths and that is the level needed to ensure that they will have the same numbers at that point as they currently have.

It's beyond my comprehension that a leader can send 100k of their young countrymen to thier deaths and not care!

Was there a couple of summers back, great place but tragically to a man they all support the dippers - so I commend his actions to the BM House

Ukraine warning of another Fukushima

Ukraine warns of another Fukushima if power plant is not reconnected

An advisor to the Ukrainian government has warned of another nuclear disaster after the Zaporizhzhia was disconnected from the national power supply.
"For the first time in history nuclear plant was stopped because of war," tweeted Anton Geraschenko, an advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs.
"If Zaporizhzhia plant isn't connected to the grid again, another Fukushima or Chernobyl can happen.
"Immediate demilitarization of 30km zone around plant must take place.
"If not, Rosatom must be sanctioned," he said, referring to the Russian state-run nuclear power giant.
