The announcement is sufficiently grey as to leave me wondering what it could mean. Will it mean Belorussian troops deployed to attack Ukraine immediately? Will it simply mean the ever-looming threat of another front to the north? Or, will it mean that Russia deploys a large number of its mobilised to Belorussia now, for ‘training’, before that joint force attacks when ready?

I think (at least I'm hoping) that it's probably the equivalent of a load of cowards standing on the edges throwing peanuts and shouting abuse. As noted several times, Russia and it's allies (Belarus, North Korea and Iran - don't laugh) cant possibly win any military battle so they'll lob missiles from a distance and talk a good game from the sidelines.

Surely Beralrus cant be dumb enough to launch an invasion from the North.

Lukashenko has burned his bridges with everybody else so probably has no choice but to stand with Putin. Hopefully he'll go the way of Mussolini or Ceaușescu before too long.

This appears to be fuck all other than words in reality.

No announcement that this "group" will be anywhere other than within Belarus, which remains a launchpad for Russian air launched crime, but nothing more, because Lukashenko dare not do more for fear of inducing revolution or a coup from his own armed forces.

Belarus is a poor country and Western sanctions would hit it far more than they have Russia. This is the reason they have stayed out of this war so far. If they do get involved their economy will be screwed.

It's alleged that some of the missiles fired today came from Belarus. I thought they were already under Western sanctions but they should be subject to the same level as Russia if not.
