Russian invasion of Ukraine

The BBC journalists must be bricking it now that Kyiv and Lviv are being targeted. They've been hiding out in the relative safety of these cities throughout the war. I've not seen much frontline reporting from the beeb.

They’ve got a couple there but Ukraine are limiting journalists near the frontlines.

Raises an interesting point though, if a consulate is in theory a pocket of that nations land, would this then count as a direct hit against Germany.

Granted it would be a strange escalation route but in this case, but raises an interesting question about how Embassies are seen in terms of NATO agreements.
Another one close to the Romanian embassy -

It’s an interesting thought, and one that intrigues scholars of international law, but I think only the United States has used such attacks as justification for self defence, so it’s hard to see NATO countries rallying under that particular flag.

Rightly so. Far too much personal/tactical information can be gleaned from coverage, no matter how well-intended and innocent it might appear to be. Ukraine currently has the reconnaissance advantage in the field, so the last thing it needs is to give anything to the Russians.

As I understand it Consulates aren’t. Embassies are. You can only have one embassy but multiple consulates. You don’t always have embassies either, sometimes just consulates
