Many of those who have fled Russia are from the educated classes, and as the state sweeps up even more people in its indiscriminate mobilization, that will only, in turn, weaken and damage both its society and economy.

I wonder if Putin let them go because he;

a) wants a population free from bright sparks who are tempted by Western ways and who might have capacity for independent thought

b) when they start to get 'victimised' in their host countries because there are so many and they cause issues then he has an excuse for invading more neighbours. The only reason there are so many Russians living in the East of Ukraine is because Holodomir (famine caused by Stalin in Ukraine) killed so many the repopulation was from Russia.

Perhaps Saudi and the UAE are simply not taking anyone's side. Perhaps the UAE are looking to be peace brokers. Don't forget the Saudis together with Abramovich secured the release of the British fighters. They could not have done that if they weren't neutral.

US congressmen (both Democrat and Reppublican) are calling for all arms sales to Saudi to be suspended over recent Saudi actions in OPEC. If Biden doesn't do it, Congress probably will.

Seems like the fucker will be sending upwards of 700K-1Mil orcs to the front. Mindboggling to digest such a number, painful to asses the internal damage this will do.

Without equipment and training they will just be cannon fodder. Tanks and other equipment being bought from Belarus and other formally Soviet republics but it's not new.
The west is about to step up supplies of long range howitzer and front-line artilary considerably so we shall see if it Russian mobilisation has any effect. If they don't have an advantage in artillery I don't give them ANY chance.
