Russian invasion of Ukraine

No it's not but shooting soldiers who are surrendering is.

It happens and will have happened on the other side and in every other war too but that doesn't make it right.

We all know the Russians are scumbags and would be vilified if they did it but we should expect better from the 'good guys'
Not if one of the surrendering soilders isn't surrendering.
Get real.

Surely nobody doubts that in any war, let alone one on this scale, crimes will be committed by all sides.

The difference here is that crime has been used as a deliberate and systematic strategy by the Russian side. Execution of prisoners, torture of opponents and civilians, targeting of civilian populations, destruction of civilian infrastructure.

There seems to be no reports whatever of anything of this scale or systematic nature from Ukraine.

This happened in my suburb of St Petersburg, which is just outside the ring road to the NE and the last stop on the most popular Metro line. The pipeline goes through a forest beyond the eastern side of the town, while we live in the western part.

At around three in the afternoon, we heard what sounded like rolling thunder in the distance. It went on for several minutes, and we could see the flames rising above the blocks of flats in that direction.

What is it like in Russia? Are most people there in support of the war? Are the sanctions having an affect of day to day life?
